HATEBREED Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement - Feb. 9, 2009
Hardcore metal leaders HATEBREED are set to release their long-awaited new covers album, "For The Lions", on Tuesday May 5, 2009 via E1 Music (formerly KOCH Records). This new release is the follow-up to the band's #1 Billboard-charting DVD "Live Dominance", which came out last September.

The songs on "For The Lions" were carefully selected by HATEBREED to represent a panoramic view of some of their favorite artists and greatest musical inspirations. Having completed the album in 2008, the band felt their work wasn't done yet and just returned to the studio with original guitar player Wayne Lozinak to record additional tracks for the album. The four new covers are among the most bludgeoning the band has yet to record. They are "Ghosts Of War" (SLAYER), "Supertouch/Shitfit" (BAD BRAINS), "Thirsty" (BLACK FLAG) and "Suicidal Maniac" (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).

"For The Lions" was produced, engineered and mixed by long-time band associate Chris "Zeuss" Harris.

"For The Lions" track listing:

01. SLAYER - Ghosts of War
02. CRO-MAGS - It's The Limit
03. SUICIDAL TENDENCIES - Suicidal Maniac
04. SEPULTURA - Refuse/Resist
05. METALLICA - Escape
06. BAD BRAINS - Supertouch/Shitfit
07. MISFITS - Hatebreeders
08. D.R.I. - Evil Minds
09. MADBALL - Set It Off
10. SICK OF IT ALL - Shut Me Out
11. BLACK FLAG - Thirsty
12. NEGATIVE APPROACH - Sick Of Talk
13. CROWBAR - All I Had I Gave
14. MERAUDER - Life Is Pain
15. AGNOSTIC FRONT - Your Mistake
16. JUDGE - Hear Me
17. OBITUARY - I'm In Pain
18. SUBZERO - Boxed In

In other news, the band has announced the departure of guitar player Sean M. Martin and return of original guitarist Wayne Lozinak.

Frontman Jamey Jasta says, "I speak on behalf of all of us and we support Sean's decision to leave and want him to be happy and successful at everything he does. There are no bad feelings at all and you'll probably see him hanging on stage at some of our local shows. We're family and he will be missed but HATEBREED will forge on."

Sean M. Martin comments: "After 10 years, I've decided to leave HATEBREED. This in no way reflects my personal relationship with Jamey, Chris, Matt and Frank; they're four of my closest friends and I'll always love them with all my heart. I want to thank all of the fans as well as the guys in the band and crew, past and present, for giving me some of the best times of my life."

HATEBREED will play a special one-off show on May 1 at Toad's Place in New Haven, Connecticut, performing songs from the forthcoming covers album and of course, longtime favorites.

"Live Dominance", the first-ever DVD from HATEBREED, will be released in Europe via Century Media on the following dates:

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Italy: Friday, March 20
Spain, Portugal: Tuesday, March 24
Sweden, Finland, Hungary: Wednesday, March 25
Rest Of Europe: Monday, March 23

It will be released as standard DVD as well as a limited-edition DVD featuring the entire main show as a "crushing" audio live CD in special packaging!

"Live Dominance" sold 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on Billboard's Top Music Videos chart.

"Live Dominance" includes over two hours of live footage including the full sold-out show at Harpo's in Detroit shot in March 2008 on the band's Supremacy tour. The multi-camera concert was filmed entirely in high definition. The DVD also includes a ton of bonus features shot specifically for the release including brand-new band interviews, bonus live videos, fan testimonials, and much, much more. "Live Dominance" was directed and edited by Kevin Custer with musical production/mixing coming from Grammy Award winner Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD).

Who doesn't love a good covers album. Lol. I love how they actually found a respectable, not overdone Metallica song to cover. Escape was a rad song that never gets mentioned. It'll be interesting to hear the Hated up version of that. Should be good

Wow:

01. SLAYER - Ghosts of War

One of Slayer's best song and it's never been covered (or maybe once or twice).

Great set of covers, including DRI.

If it's just you, it's me too. Hatebreed is the most monotone band I've ever heard. I've tried listening, but the vocals and corny riffs are too much.

im into old school metallica, slayer, cannibal corpse, pantera so basically metal but i love these guys!!!!!!!!!!!! im suprised how many people hate this band yeah they dont play really fast like the bands above but they are heavy and have great riffs. in a day where bands that sing like trivium and kse...... are popular ill take these guys any day at least their attempting to be as heavy as possible
ps shawn will be missed that fucker damn near broke his neck every show i ever saw much respect shawn and hatebreed !!!

from way back whenever Under The Knife came out on casette. Looking forward to this, as even though I'm not exactly harcore-friendly (their fans gay it up WAY too much for me), I'll be picking this up. Hatebreed, to me, always seems like they could be a really good metal band if they'd just step more in that direction (they won't, but it rocks nonetheless) and shake the hardcore vibe.

But whatever, it's great music for the gym.....

Crowbar's "All I Had I Gave" and Sep's "Refuse/Resist," the rest sounds cool (I like the band choice for Crowbar/Sepultura, just wish it was another song). Great taste in music that you cant fucking deny.

This band can get monotone but it gets too much crap from some assholes out there.
