FEAR FACTORY Photo Book 'Inside The Machine' Out This Week - Feb. 16, 2009
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based photographer Omer Cordell is preparing for his first-ever book release, "Inside The Machine", a photo documentary chronicling the Los Angeles metal band FEAR FACTORY.

The project, which began back in 2004, saw Cordell joining the group while it was on tour in support of its critically acclaimed album "Archetype". "Every once in a while I'd go on tour and jump on a bus for about a week and just basically just get all my images together," he told MetalEater.com.

The book was almost shelved until Cordell discovered Blurb.com. "I stumbled upon it; a friend of mine just published a photo book through them and he was pretty impressed with the results. I figured I've had this book sitting here for so many years. If I wouldn't have done something with it now, or if I wouldn't have stumbled upon that web site now, then this project would have never seen the light of day," he says. As a result of this unique release format, "Inside The Machine" is not available in stores.

The result is a 64-page book, which contains 250 live, behind-the-scenes and promo photos of the band for FEAR FACTORY fans offering fans a new glimpse at the band. "Many people don't really have an idea as to what a band does in between shows or after-show or pre-show and I hope that this book will kinda paint a general picture as to what happens in between the show and what happens behind the drum kit and how I see it from the stage and such, 'cause a lot of the footage was shot from the stage as well, so the fans can see what the band sees. So kinda give the people that kind of perspective as to how things work and how I personally have perceived the band and perceived the band seeing the fans. So that would be one thing the fans can get from this."

As for the experience, it’s one that Cordell enjoyed. "I had a blast on tour," he says. "They are funny guys; they're great. In downtime, we had long bus rides sometimes and such and it was just nice to see that everybody has their own place and as an outsider they were very welcoming to me and it was a pleasure and I hope to do that again sometime."

"Inside The Machine" is available on February 17, 2009 in both hard-cover and soft-cover versions.

Wow! I didn't see this one coming. I hope that this is a promotion tactic for Fear Factory's untitled new album! And Mr. Brown, go lick your own asshole!

GWAR OWNS 2009!

Well, after Dino left, they made one hell of an album - Archetype. The last one was upsetting though, but Dino was not this band.

Er, if you were gonna charge that much for this book, you should at least be a halfway decent photographer. The preview isn't impressive at all. Several of the pics are very blurry.

You're not obviously familiar with Omer's work. The guy has worked with The Devin Townsend Band, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, KMFDM, Alexisonfire, Clutch, Mnemic, Threat Signal, Meshuggah, Apocalyptica and a host of other bands...

I don't think they would choose a photographer who is amateur and "blurs" the photos.

Get a clue about how to use a camera...it's called technique.

Omer devoted a lot of time and hard work to this project, so it's really satisfying to see the end result after MANY obstacles.

***To the armchair photographers here who think their cellphone pics make them Ross Halfin, get a clue. Omer knows his shit and his resume proves bands are willing to leave their fate in his capable hands.

"Who needs Dino anyway ?" hey man ! the best FF albums were made with Dino participation. Easy to bash on this guy but he contributed to FF success !

COMMENT | There's no Dino content in this book...

I know work went into it and so forth but thats a buck a page. I want one as I'll always admire FF since they were the ones that got me into metal back in the day but even I won't be getting it til I see it for significantly cheaper, if ever, and ya I know theres a softcover but its still not worth it, maybe if it was longer.
