THE CULT: New Tour Dates Announced - Feb. 18, 2009
THE CULT has scheduled the following dates:

May 01 - Memphis, TN @ Beale Street Music Festival
Jul. 10 - Lockport, NY @ Ulrich City Center

In other news, Vinyl 180 will release a remastered edition of THE CULT's "Love" album on March 9, 2009 on 180g vinyl with updated artwork. It will be released as a single-disc and a double-disc version. The limited-edition version (see image below) features an extra disc of "She Sells Sanctuary" remixes. The redesigned heavyweight gatefold sleeve has the wing motif foil-blocked in silver with picture labels and heavyweight inner bags.

Fan-filmed video footage of THE CULT's September 9, 2008 concert at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. can be viewed below (clip uploaded by YouTube user "SonicWindmill").

THE CULT last year parted ways with Roadrunner Records, the label that released the group's latest album, "Born into This". That CD sold 12,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 70 on The Billboard 200 chart. It was recorded in London with producer Youth (VERVE, PRIMAL SCREAM).

THE CULT's current touring lineup includes principals Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy alongside bassist Chris Wyse, drummer John Tempesta (ex-WHITE ZOMBIE, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, HELMET) and rhythm guitarist Mike Dimkich.

I was born in Lockport. I love the place and it is definitely home to me but I never imagined a concert like this going on there. It's a small, old suburb of Buffalo. I hope it does well though.

It was more 70's influenced, classic The Cult. Beyond Good And Evil was awesome, but it was a completely different kind of album.

If only they could release an album that's a mix of these two albums. That would kill!

Also, I miss Billy Duffy's guitar solos. He sounds like he lost his capability to play solos.

Nope, they're right, the last Cult album was pretty ho-hum, and not even stealing a Rolling Stones lick for the single could elevate it past a basically boring record.

It's probably their worst record. Yeah. I think it is. Not really the kind of album you want to put out at this stage in your career.

Still, don't count them out yet.

If they put out ANOTHER album, I'd give it a chance. I wouldn't buy it without hearing more samples first, though.

"Beyond Good & Evil" kicked serious ASS. Loved it. But it was almost too much at once, and it took me a few listens to get into it. The Cult have done "heavy" tracks before, but nothing quite like that all the way through.

I would like to get my hands on the Love vinyl reissue! They always had some of the coolest artwork on the vinyl albums and their vinyl singles back in the '80s.

which stones lick did they steal on the last album. They stole "start me up" on "love removal"...Like "love" alot in the day, though alot of it now has the big time 80's production, too much reverb or echo. They rocked in the day, for a time.

Beyond good and evil makes all of the other Cult albums sound lame. Born into this is piss-poor. Their worst album ever.

The guitar lick in Dirty Little Rockstar is from Rolling Stones' Undercover Of The Night.

But we are talking about The Cult here. When they were ever original? They always stole the ideas from Rock classics and so on. The special thing about them is the delivery.
