OZZY OSBOURNE To Perform On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' - Feb. 25, 2009
Ozzy Osbourne will be the featured musical guest on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on the Friday, March 27 episode (which will actually air the morning of March 28 beginning at 12:05 a.m.).

Ozzy Osbourne's long-running traveling metal festival, Ozzfest, will not take place in 2009. A press release issued by Osbourne's publicist stated that the singer does not want to tour until he has a new album in stores later in the year, adding, "Thus, Ozzy has decided to put his namesake festival Ozzfest on hold this year." The announcement is not really surprising, given the festival's scaled-down reconfiguration as a one-day event last year after more than a decade as a full-length summer tour.

In addition to the general slowdown in both the economy and the concert business, Ozzfest began facing competition last year from the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour and Crüe Fest.

Tour co-organizer Sharon Osbourne experimented in 2007 by making the show admission-free, with fans obtaining tickets through corporate sponsors. But the bands were not paid either, leading to a lack of big names.

Last year's "destination festival" took place on August 9 in Dallas and featured METALLICA, SERJ TANKIAN and others along with headliner Ozzy.

Ozzy is currently working in Los Angeles on his 10th studio album, which will follow up 2007's "Black Rain". The new disc is expected in stores by Thanksgiving of this year.

Ozzy, Sharon and their kids Jack and Kelly will star in a new variety show for Fox this spring called "The Osbournes: Reloaded".

Great news, hope it will be as good or better then Black Rain wich was a fine album, not great but still very good, and better then most of the crap thats been on the charts.
i like Dio also very very much but Ozzy's last albums have been much better then Dio's.
But Dio still has his voice every night, while Ozzy is a little different, but i saw him live 2 years ago and he was in great shape

Ozzy is a pathetic shell of his former self. He has to use backing tapes cause he can't sing anymore. Please just retire, you're embarrassing yourself..

i don't think he should necessarily retire, but he's at the point where maybe he should cut back on the touring. it seems the more rest he gets, the better he sounds. doing several shows a week is too much for him.

he looked and sounded great in those camp freddy videos that were posted on here a little while ago. if he cut back, and put on a show like that every time he got on stage, i think he could get back some of the respect he's lost over recent years.

All I can think of when I hear the song I don't wanna stop is OZZY STOP ALREADY! He bops around like a godamn tone deaf pogo stick.
Yeah he's a legend......I was 5 when Sabotage came out and my life changed forever. But when you can't even pull it off in the studio anymore with todays technology it's a shame to keep dragging it on.
A new Sabbath album with Ozzy woould not have worked even back in the late nineties when the reunion started. Iommi and Butlers power just crush Ozzys "lack" of power. Staying in key is only half the battle.
Anyway if Phscho Man And Selling My Soul were the direction they were headed, thank god they flagged it. Those songs bite. A fucking drum machine? Are you joking?
Bring on Heaven and Hell......

if the comparison must be made, of course Dio is technically stronger. But in their primes(they all get old, & DIO has held up well vocally), Ozzy had such a unique, demonic voice that perfectly compliment Iommi's riffs & the dark tunes. Ozzy sings on TONS of great songs/album, right through the Randy Rhoads albums. too much great material to not give oz the nod. You gotta have the songs. Its like Yngwie, great player, but IMO, I'd rather listen to just about anyone else who is creating, writing great songs to showcase the playing.

iommi's ability to go from playing the way he did to "compliment" ozzy's voice, and then switch it up to "compliment" dio's singing, as well as the other singers following the two of them, is what makes him such a great guitarist.

he had such a unique sound while playing with ozzy, that when i first heard heaven and hell, i was absolutely blown away that he had that in him. i've seen him up close, just a few feet from the stage, and he is by far the best metal guitarist i've ever seen.

Iommi did play less "plodding" with DIO, the Heaven & Hell album. Almost upbeat at time, like on Wishing Well. Its "brighter", more 1980. I'm not familiar with Post Dio Sabbath, but he's a metal master. Very Unique.

i'm not a big fan of born again, or 7th star, but as far as post dio stuff goes, iommi's playing with tony martin was pretty similar to the dio era albums.

martin has no problem sounding like the dio era songs were wriiten just for him, and i'm sure dio would sound just as good doing the martin era songs. i'd love to hear dio cover 'headless cross" or "hand that rocks the cradle", but, unfortunately, it will never happen.

if you're interested in hearing some post dio sabbath, check out "headless cross" or "cross purposes". imo those are the two best tony martin era albums.

I get tired of hearing "Long live Ozzy!!"

Because that might just be the problem. He's lived so long on borrowed time that he's practically become the Ronald Reagan of hard rawk. Isn't "Long live so-and-so" something people say when a king or dictator gets so old and decrepit that he becomes
a tired figurehead with no real power?

I was looking forward to Ozzfest this year--for the OTHER bands on the Second Stage. But seeing that the Ozzzzzzzzman is recording another mediocre album, there should be other cool summer tours to see.

RIP Ozzfest.

retire? ozzy is putting a good example for all metal bands because he keeps going and going. even though he may sound wierd to you now at least he still has the energy to get up in front of thousands of people and do what he does.
