MARK SLAUGHTER Slaughters SLAUGHTER Hit At Gift Of Music Concert; Video Available - Feb. 26, 2009
Altitude TV has posted video footage of Mark Slaughter, frontman of veteran rockers SLAUGHTER, struggling to hit the high notes during a solo performance of the band's 1990 hit "Fly To The Angels" at the Gift of Music concert in Nashville on February 2. Watch it below and check out the original video for comparison.

"Fly To The Angels" was featured on SLAUGHTER's debut album, "Stick It To Ya", which went double platinum on the strength of several singles. Although the band's style of music had fallen from public favor by the time it released its second album, "The Wild Life", in 1992, SLAUGHTER continued to tour and record throughout the '90s.

Been a long time fan of Slaughter and I refuse to believe that they would tour like that. I've never seen Slaughter live because they never came to our neck of the woods, nudge nudge, wink wink... But I have seen Def Leppard a few times and once Joe Elliot had a horrible cold, but as the saying goes, the show must go on, and Joe went up there with full intentions of doing his best, for that we applauded and it was still a kick ass show. I am sure this is what happened to Mark as well. Love ya Mark! Keep on playing!

He was sick or something here. I saw Slaughter just a couple of years ago and he fucking nailed that song. Nice cork sniffy amps he's got there on stage.

...and he nailed all the songs... saw him by accident doing the RnR fantasy camp on the Extreme tour, and he seemed to be doing fine with his part... i'm sure it was simply a bad night due to illness like everyone's saying...

I saw Slaughter last year on Long Island, NY. He missed ALL of the high notes during that show as well. He also had a ridiculous amount of effects on his voice.
I am not knocking the guy by any means- but he definitely doesn't even have half of the voice he used to.

Ya know it's great that the internet brings out all the mean-spirited creeps all set to point out when people have a bad night. Seems like the guy had an off-night or was sick - these guys have to post this to embarrass him? We just love to see people fall on their faces don't we? What does that say about our culture?

And no, I'm not a fan.

Is not singing like he used to cause he is not using his voice as much anymore. Give the guy ample time to get back into the groove and he can & will sing like he used to. Slaughter is not a huge touring entity either. So go figure.

It does sound bad,but it is probably a cold or off day,i have seen slaughter probably 15 times and talked to mark over 50 times as he used to live by me in Vegas.Give him a break this seems like a charity concert .Also is this the other slaughter guys or a back up band, because the harmony's sounded really good

Slaughter has been a guilty pleasure for me for quite some time, saw them in Edinburg, Texas in 2007 at a gig that included one of the last performances of Kevin DuBrow with Quiet Riot. I have to say he struggled pretty badly vocally also, but it wasn't this bad. Sounds like he has destroyed all the high range in his voice. Hopefully, they were just off nights and he can still pull it off.

That was the worst attempt at singing I've ever heard. The guitar solo behind the head was ridiculous and he stepped on his cable. What a dope. I don't think being sick could be an excuse for this mess. He should have his rock and roll liscense revoked for all eternity.

What's the drummer's excuse in the first chorus? "It needed to sound happy." Mark was bad enough without having to direct the band during a song they have played, I don't know, 10,000 fucking times!

He isn't the greatest singer to begin with but he isn't terrible like this video may lead someone to believe. That's the down side of the whole "The show must go on" approach. Sometimes it's best just to except your limitations and reshedule. I have been in his shoes before where you think you may be able to hit all your notes if you just take it easy or modify your approach to the song, but when you know how the song is spuuposed to sound it's hard not to try go go there. I am sure we will see future footage of him sounding more like himself.

COMMENT | Mark has sung like this FOR YEARS NOW

Due to damage to his vocal chords (nodes) and some unsuccessful surgeries to fix the problem, he can no longer hit hardly any notes - especially anything remotely in the upper range. He is not sick, this is how he sounds now. He sounded just like this on the VH1 Metal Mania Stripped recording from a few years ago too. Go youtube it if you want proof. He's lost it, and NEEDS to hang it up. Yikes.

And that wasn't his band..it seems maybe it was a benefit of some sorts and he was a guest? and played w/ guys that may have heard the song---Dolly Parton and others were there and perhaps mark now lives in nashville where it took place and might have been better off staying home..but at least he was doing something for Charity---

I am so livid right now with what all of you posers have been saying about Mark! He is an incredible musician and the most amazing singer I have ever heard!! Have seen him live in concert way tooo many times to count and he has nailed it every time!! THE MAN WAS SICK SO GIVE HIM A BREAK!!! All of you who are complaining are JUST JEALOUS!!!!!!!! SO GET A LIFE!!!!!!! He was also playing with a bunch of nobody's who obviously didn't have a clue what they were doing... this is NOT THE BAND!! Blando, Timbo and Pete are AWESOME in their own right and together they all still make kick ass rock-n-roll! Maybe all of you haters should go buy a ticket to the next show Slaughter does in your area. "Yes...They still tour all the time NEVER STOPPED!!!!" Maybe you all should know what you are talking about before you open your mouths and make yourselves sound more stupid than you are!
