MIKE PATTON To Perform At Chile's PEPSI MUSIC 09 - Feb. 27, 2009
According to HumoNegro.com, FAITH NO MORE singer Mike Patton will perform at the Pepsi Music 09 festival in Santiago, Chile. He will share the stage with former SOUNDGARDEN/AUDIOSLAVE frontman Chris Cornell on March 25 at Movistar Arena.

FAITH NO MORE made its reunion official with a statement sent by bassist Bill Gould to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. Speculation about the band's reactivation reached a fever pitch in recent weeks, with the rumors all but confirmed in a press release issued by singer Mike Patton's publicist earlier this week. In his statement, Gould wrote in part, "Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe. Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together."

The bassist added, "What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right. Meanwhile, we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kick-ass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present...We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of (FAITH NO MORE)."

As also speculated, original guitarist Jim Martin will not be part of the reunion. Performing in his place will be Jon Hudson, who played with FAITH NO MORE during the latter stages of its initial run after Martin departed.

The rest of the band's best-known lineup — Patton, Gould, drummer Mike "Puffy" Bordin and keyboardist Roddy Bottum — will be intact.

FAITH NO MORE will reportedly hit several European festivals this summer, although no official dates have been announced and, so far, no North American shows are on the radar.

anyone who saw FNM, also would know that silly glasses aside, Jim did not bring a whole lot to the show... He was good, not really what I consider integral... Writing wise, they still made brilliant records without him... Dean was cool, as was Trey, as is Jon... I really hope they do some US shows.

As long as they're as good now as they were then, I don't give a fuck who plays guitar.

No Jim=no FNM. Yes, they did brilliant records without him, BUT he IS an integral part of the band, apart from the fact that he has been intentionally disdained by the band. Just my opinion.

It's also sad to see that there is still bad blood between Jim and the rest of the band. I wish he could somehow make it into the lineup again.

That is awesome news, hope to see them Down Under... they sorta came and went before my time, and I'd dearly love to see them. And whoever is on guitar doesn't hugely matter, the best of their music revolves around the bass and the keyboards.

angel dust was an awesome album, but it wasn't due to Martin's playing. Hudson is simply the better guitarist, and FNM sounds better with him handling guitar duties.

Does this dude have ADD? He needs to stick to one thing and be great at that, rather than being half assed at everything.

I'm sorry.. but WHAT? Jon Hudson couldn't play some of Jim Martin's material correctly. I distinctly remember him trying - and failing miserably - to play "Surprise! You're Dead!"
