HEAVEN AND HELL: 'The Devil You Know' Track Listing Unveiled - Feb. 28, 2009
According to Black-Sabbath.com, the track listing for "The Devil You Know", the forthcoming debut album from HEAVEN AND HELL — the band featuring BLACK SABBATH members Tony Iommi (guitar), Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Geezer Butler (bass) and Vinny Appice (drums) — will be as follows:

01. Atom & Evil
02. Fear
03. Bible Black
04. Double the Pain
05. Rock & Roll Angel
06. The Turn of the Screw
07. Eating the Cannibals
08. Follow the Tears
09. Neverwhere
10. Breaking into Heaven

"The Devil You Know" is scheduled for release on April 28 via Rhino. The LP was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales, U.K. where the 1992 SABBATH album "Dehumanizer" was also tracked.

"Everyone had so much fun playing together that we didn't want it to end," says the group. "We started writing together and the songs started flowing like we never stopped. We wound up writing and recording an album that stands up to anything we've ever done. We're really proud of the music and excited for people to hear it."

"Each of us submitted a CD of our ideas, and we narrowed it down from there," Iommi told Classic Rock. "In some ways it was like picking up where we'd left off with 'Dehumanizer'."

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Ronnie James Dio described the material on the HEAVEN AND HELL album as "a real cross-section of everything we've done, from 'Heaven and Hell' through 'Mob Rules' and 'Dehumanizer'. I think there's a lot of 'Dehumanizer' in it, but a lot of other things, too, a real good blend of what this band has represented."

HEAVEN AND HELL will premier "The Devil You Know" on the April 29 edition of the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. An encore presentation of the show will air on May 4. Fans are encouraged to speak with HEAVEN AND HELL by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625).

Three years ago, Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice reunited to record a trio of new songs for Rhino's "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years" before launching a highly anticipated and greatly acclaimed world tour under their new moniker HEAVEN AND HELL. Revitalized by the reunion, the lineup returned to the studio to record the first-ever full-length studio album from HEAVEN AND HELL. To whet the fans' appetites for the new album, HEAVEN AND HELL hit the road last summer for a short stint on the Metal Masters Tour, a month-long North American trek with JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD, and TESTAMENT.

Regarding the band's decision to continue to operate as HEAVEN AND HELL rather than BLACK SABBATH, Iommi told Billboard.com last year, "It really is BLACK SABBATH, whatever we do. We just choose to go out as HEAVEN AND HELL so everyone knows what they're getting [and] so people won't expect to hear 'Iron Man' and all those songs. We've done them for so many years, it's nice to do just all the stuff with did with Ronnie again."

BLACK SABBATH's "The Rules Of Hell" box set — which features all three of SABBATH's Dio-era studio releases ("Heaven And Hell", "Mob Rules", "Dehumanizer") and its double live collection ("Live Evil"), each remastered for the first time — sold around 2,650 copies in the United States in its first week of release back in July 2008, according to Nielsen SoundScan."The Rules Of Hell" comes packaged in a deluxe slipcase with extensive liner notes featuring all new interviews with the band.

I thought that Ear in the Wall was actually quite good. When the Devil Cries was pretty good musically but the lyrics were quite lame. I'm sure the album will be firing on all cylindars since they had a lot more time to work on it than they did for the numbers on the greatest hits package.

Dehumanizer was one of the finest Sabbath albums ever, and if this is more of that, sign me (and anyone with common sense) up.

Ear In The Wall is an excellent song.Hope there's more of that type of stuff,on the new disc. And I got to admit, I really didn't like Shadow of the Wind at first, but man, that song has really grown me. If any of the new stuff has that kind of feel, and production sound, then this disc will absolutely be one of their best.

Dio and Iommi are both gods to me, but you know the line above is huge PR bullsh**t and we all know the truth, but I am expecting great things from this album. But I feel sure that Geezer & Tony vs Dio & Vinny will inevitably explode into another disintegration - but at least we'll get this album!

I think they're sincere this time. The first reunion only lasted 1 year. This one has lasted almost three. Part of it I do think is Geezer and Butler not wanting to spend another 10 years playing nothing, but War Pigs and Paranoid and Dio being able to regain some mainstream attention from people besides Jack Black. But whatever the reasons, I can see this union lasting a bit longer.

under 'H' with the new CD. Now have I to go from one side of the room to the other to get to the whole catalog.

And another thing, I think Neon Knights would have been a better name for the band anyways.

I thought were pretty good. Yes the lyrics on "Devil Cry" are cheesy but musically the song is a ten. Besides it heavy metal and we all know that metal and cheese go together. Any metal band that takes their music seriously should take an ex-lax, relax and cleanse themselves of all the bx.

What were you listening to when Dehumanizer came out? Pearl Jam? Nirvana? Maybe Blind Melon? Please remove head from ass. Just because it wasn't on the top 40 wall at your local record store doesn't mean it wasn't good.

I think they'll get along fine. Their all in or close to their sixties now. the Dehumanizer thing came around at the wrong time. There was almost no metal making money back then. It's a bit different now. I don't think the guys in heaven and Hell expected thier popularity to soar like this after Dehumanizer crashed and burned. On that tour when I saw them they played to a 2,000 seat arena and it STILL didn't sell out. if they played 2,000 seaters on this last tour they would've had to play multiple dates. probably 4 or 5. There's no way this album will suck. It's impossible.

I thought all three of the new songs were damned good. The production was crushingly heavy...the bass was nicely audible, Iommi's guitar tone killed, the drums sounded tight and loud, and Dio was his usual perfectionist self.

Slamming Dio/Sabbath lyrics for being cheesy is like slamming the sky for being blue.

I'm not saying that ALL metal lyrics are cheesy, but ya gotta admit, no matter how hardcore a fan you are of metal, lyrical content can be fucking laughable, and that's part of the fun of metal.

Making the Devil cry? Pure genius.

Great point. I totally agree with your point on metal lyrics.

Dio could use a little help on lyrics i think but, Im pretty much sold on his work with sabbath so who cares, right? It has gotten this far, right?

I'd be happier if it was produced by Martin Birch and was back to H&H & Mob Rules. I had no problem with that.

Never really listened to Dehumaniser,I'll have to go find it.

I really hope there will be 2-3 really fast ones (neon knights, mob rules), 2-3 doom monsters (heaven & hell, sign of the southern cross, shadow of the wind)) and 4-6 heavy mid-tempo songs in dehumanizer-style. then it would be perfect! anyway can´t wait!
