LAMB OF GOD's 'Wrath' Lands At No. 2 On BILLBOARD Chart!
- Mar. 4, 2009
|
|
LAMB OF GOD's new album, "Wrath", sold around 68,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 2 (behind TAYLOR SWIFT's "Fearless") on The Billboard 200 chart. LAMB OF GOD's last album, "Sacrament", sold around 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release back in August 2006 to land at No. 8. This represented almost double the amount of records sold by its predecessor, "Ashes of the Wake", which registered a first-week tally of 35,000 in September 2004. "Wrath" was released in North America on February 24 via Epic. The CD was issued in other territories through Roadrunner Records. "Wrath" was produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire. Roadrunner Records has uploaded a nine-minute video clip (see below) featuring footage of guitarist Mark Morton and vocalist Randy Blythe of LAMB OF GOD discussing all the songs on "Wrath". The "Wrath" album was released in four configurations: an LP, a CD, a deluxe-edition CD with bonus disc — which contains isolated recording parts — as well as a super-deluxe version featuring a limited-edition box containing an LP, deluxe-edition CD and USB drive containing two exclusive bonus tracks. The LAMB OF GOD North American "Wrath" tour kicks off April 2 in Phoenix, Arizona with AS I LAY DYING, CHILDREN OF BODOM, GOD FORBID, and MUNICIPAL WASTE supporting.

Don't like this band, but good for them. Unfortunatley the "metal effect" will soon take place, where album sales will drop after the first week. Week #1- 2nd position; Week #2- 116th; Week#3- Lamb of Who?

thats awsome, i know i was teh first guy at teh HMV i went to to buy it, wanted to make sure i got my fix! and to the guy that said they're gonna drop in chart positions, it's because everybody who wants to buy the album already did, so it's the people that didn't have the cash at the time or the people that say "this album is really high, i'll check it out"

Great guys, great music, great album!
Since Sacrament was more or less "made for the masses" (i'm not gonna say mainstream!) with "Wrath" LoG comes back full force with more nasty vocals, thundering riffs and a great percussion baseline!
I loved these guys since the first time I heard their stuff! They totally deserve selling their copies. Go to hell you "Sellouts"-yelling bastards!! HarHar!

68,000 is #2. It's hard to fathom how far this industry has fallen in terms of physical sales of music. I must be getting really old, because to me nothing is better than cruising a great record store. You just can't do it anymore.

I'm happy for them, but like someone else mentioned, only 68,000 get's to No. 2? A few months back Slipknot's 'All Hope Is Gone' sold around 235,000 and that only narrowly by 1,500 got to No. 1...anyways, well done.

I'm glad they managed a bigger first week than what they got with Sacrament. I was hoping it would be more though. 70k and above would have been fantastic but this is still a very good result and they weren't far off 70k. Had the album not been leaked three weeks prior to the release date (by comparison, Sacrament leaked about three days prior to its release date), they would probably have sold more and would maybe have even managed to beat Taylor Swift.

It only sold marginally better than their last album in terms of volume. It could've easily not even made top 5 depending on the competition that week. Very good showing for a metal band though. Even though i'm not a fan of LOG they open doors for other metal bands with good sales like this.

The new Kings of Metal! All you haters can eat it! You obviously did not listen to the album, I downloaded it on my zune and that's all I've been listening to lately. For all you dumb-asses yes I pay for the zune service therefore, I did not download illegally. Live there are the tightest band on the planet, randy can sing exactly like the album! Contractor is the best metal song to come out in the past 10 yrs. They are the new Pantera in my opinion! Lamb of god and Pantera the best bands ever!!!!!! I fucking hate drummers that jack off the snare the whole time blast beating the whole time, Chris uses his creativity instead of relying on hitting them as fast as he can. Chris Adler the best drummer.

Well it is now official. Lamb Of God are now the logical successors to Pantera and quite frankly the only ones worthy.
Hillybilly Dirtbags make good!
Morton and Adler write some great stuff and these guys are as tight as fuck live. Great work ethic and appear to be pretty down to earth normal dudes. Suffice to say Chris Adler is a fuckin machine on the drums just wish someone would get in his head and tell him he doesn't need that tin can snare drum sound to make a statement.

Chris Adler is one of the best drummers in all of MUSIC not just metal he can turn a potentially "simple beat" into a complex monster...as for Lamb of God...mad props...love the album, much much much improved from Sacrament but my favorite album will always be Ashes of the Wake. I bet these guys are stoked for the success I just hope it doesn't change the way the write music in the future, which I am positive it wont. ALL HAIL LAMB OF GOD!

Not really a fan but congrats are definitely in order. Its great that any metal band (unless its nu metal, sorry) can get into the Billboard Top 5. Its a really great achievement. I remember seeing these guys on the Dimmu/Cannibal Corpse tour MANY years ago, back in 01, before anyone even knew who they were. They put on an impressive performance and whod have thought, back then, that theyd go #2. Once again, great job.
