ARSIS Pulls Out Of CARCASS Tour
- Mar. 7, 2009
|
|
|
Drummer David Kinkade (ARSIS, BORKNAGAR, MALEVOLENT CREATION, DIVINE EMPIRE, COUNCIL OF THE FALLEN) has issued the following update: "I regret to inform everyone that ARSIS will NOT be on the CARCASS tour [also featuring SUICIDE SILENCE, SAMAEL and PSYCROPTIC] scheduled to kick off in Philadelphia on the 13th of March. This is due to situations in ARSIS that are out of my hands.
"I do not feel that it is my place to go into specific reasons and/or details leading up to this decision, but being the drummer of ARSIS, it is in my best interest to NOT keep the fans in the dark. There are major personal and communication issues in this band that need be resolved before anything can continue as ARSIS. I will leave it at that. Again, my apologies to the fans, the other bands on the bill and everyone who worked so hard to put this together. "Due to the situation, I am available for session/possible long-term drum work nationally and internationally. "Those interested can contact me at: Anti_cosmic_drummer@yahoo.com. "On a positive note, the new BORKNAGAR album is nearing the final completion stages. Having spoken with Øystein [G. Brun; guitar] today, I am told that vocals and synths are well under way and we will all be meeting in Oslo at the end of April for the final mixing and mastering. So far, drums and guitars are finished and let me be the first to say that this album is going to be immense. By far the most brilliant material that BORKNAGAR has ever written, this work is going to have all the 'meat 'n' potatoes” musically and production-wise. I trust that all the fans will enjoy this effort."
ARSIS' latest album, "We Are the Nightmare", was released in April 2008 through Nuclear Blast Records. The package contains a bonus 45-minute DVD that includes the band's time in the studio, off-stage antics, and some general goofing around. The album was produced by Zeuss (AGNOSTIC FRONT, HATEBREED, MUNICIPAL WASTE) at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts and was mastered by Alan Douches (KATAKLYSM, UNEARTH, SHADOWS FALL).

DUMBASSES!!!!! Fuck the personal mumbo jumbo, you're on tour with fucking Carcass!!!! Way to blow a once in a lifetime opportunity. I say get over it, get back on that golden opportunity, and settle those differences at home.
Otherwise, you'll be kicking yourself in the ass years down the line, while another band steals your thunder.

arsis is a great band, but every year there a line up change. it will be difficult for the band to move the next level if they are always having personal issues. hopefully they can get things resolved and move forward.

With a request for session/long time work I dont think hes gonna be in Arsis too much longer... Line up change? I THINK SO!
Arsis is the Malone band... What he says goes, and I think that gets problems sometimes.

Who cares about this band. The made Celebration of Guilt, a fucking amazing record, and then fell into mediocrity.

If a band is stupid enough to pull out of a tour with Carcass and the drummer is starting to hint at things with his post, you can tell that Arsis will be no more sooner than later.

Arsis sticks to their guns yet again. This band is notorious for canceling shows, dropping off tours, etc.

This is the second time that they're canceling a tour on me, both times, due to their issues with the drummer.

Darren fucked things up by recording amazing drums that no drummers can reproduce live except himself. He spoiled Arsis, and now they are paying the price.

I've been planning on this show in Ft Worth for months now! Carcass and Arsis together would have been the shit! Hope they get their heads on straight and get back in the lineup.

Arsis are an excellent band but like many bands one guy calls the shots, is the " Leader ". And this one guy will often ruin a good thing by thinking " He " is what makes the band. Think of the following bands: Danzig Dio Ozzy Osbourne ( Blizzard of Ozz ) Anthrax All had killer line ups and the leader ruined it. They never matched the original line ups.

No! This was going to be awesome! Carcass, Psycroptic, and Arsis in one show is astounding. Samael... only have one album by them, but I wouldn't mind seeing them too. I'll still go see this, but man, what a disappointment.
At least I got to see them with Kataklysm, Keep of Kalessin, and Eluvetie. That was an awesome show too.

since vandyne quit a couple years ago this band has had more tour cancellations and lineup changes than most veteran bands experience through their whole careers. too bad, their first album and ep were fucking awesome.

These guys were the main reason why I'd be going to the mokena show. I mean the other bands aren't all that bad, just not some of my favorites. Arsis has some pretty sick shit. Their singer/guitarist James Malone has even done a solo on Blessed Through Misery by DAATH. Hopefully these guys don't break up, they're one of the few best up and coming bands out there today along with DAATH, Gojira, and Intronaut.

Friend of mine drummed for Arsis last year during the thrash n' burn tour. He said James (singer/guitarist) is a total elitist prick who has an out of control napoleon complex, and doesn't feel the other members of the band really need to be involved in anything, so this news is not surprising in the least.

MetalHeadJedi nailed it - "A Celebration of Guilt" was their apex. Everything else is average at best with an occasional burst of excellence. If you think "We Are The Nightmare" is good, spin the 1st album and then think again. Too bad, they had potential, but the metal world is tough and the whole band, as a unit, has to have their act together. These guys don't for whatever reason.

According to the posts, James´s attitude is killing the group. If he does not change that right away, the group will vanish in haze, a real shame.

haha I love Arsis, but bands that have controlling front men will never get beyond the petty bullshit. Look at John G. and Dying Fetus.

I don't think John G. suffers from a napoleon complex as much as he suffers from not being able to find suitable replacements. Though, the current lineup is comprised of some solid talent, which I witnessed firsthand live about 4 months ago. Sure, we'll probably never get another "KoA" or "DtO", but I bet if they keep this lineup we'll get some more blistering future releases.
