Reformed GORGUTS Working On New Material - Mar. 11, 2009
GORGUTS, the acclaimed technical death metal band from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, has reportedly reformed with a brand new lineup and is currently working on material for a new studio album. Four songs are said to have already been completed, with several more on the way.

GORGUTS' current lineup is reportedly as follows:

* Luc Lemay (NEGATIVA) - Vocals, Guitar
* Kevin Hufnagel (DYSRHYTHMIA, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT, BYLA, EUCLID STREET, THE FIFTH SEASON, GREY DIVISION BLUE) - Guitar
* Colin Marston (DYSRHYTHMIA, BEHOLD... THE ARCTOPUS, BYLA, KRALLICE, INDRICOTHERE) - Bass
* John Longstreth (DIM MAK, ORIGIN, THE RED CHORD, SKINLESS, POSSESSION, ANGELCORPSE) - Drums

Back in November 2006, Metal Mind Productions reissued the classic GORGUTS albums "Considered Dead" and "Erosion of Sanity". Both CDs came in new digipack editions on golden discs, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology, and were limited to a hand-numbered 2,000 copies. Each title included two demo tracks as a bonus.

GORGUTS' last studio album, "From Wisdom to Hate", was released in 2001.

I remember getting 'Considered Dead' when it came out, and thinking it was the shit! Obituary meets Morbid Angel, truly classic old school death metal.

They kind of lost me after that though..

I am glad to hear this. Luc is one of the best death metal vocalists out there and GorGuts wrote awesome riffs. From Wisdom to Hate was shear brutality.

A brand new lineup means it's not Gorguts.

This could be good music but none of the members were ever in Gorguts nor had any affiliation with Gorguts. To me, that means this isn't Gorguts.

They just stole a name. How very nice of them.

Obscura was awesome but they need to go back to the roots and do some more Erosion of Sanity type stuff. To this day I have never heard a cd quite like it.

Gorguts is one guy, Luc Lemay. The line up completely changes between The Erosion Of Sanity, and Obscura. Just like Death is chuck, Iced Earth is Schaffer.

Try looking up some facts first. Getting sick of hearing these clowns piss and moan when they dont know shit.

The first two albums have entirely different lineups (apart from Luc) than the last two. He's the only original member. So it's no more different than that change, ya dumbass.

1st two albums are classics! Saw them on tour back then couple times. This line up however will kick major butt! It's no Reunion though but I'll be looking forward to this.

Gorguts has always been and always will be Luc Lemay. End of story. The only thing that saddens me as that Steve is not back on bass. Other than that, this is one of the best news in the last 5 years.

Great new line up, can't wait for the new CD.

Obscura is my favorite Death Metal album ever and so far Luc can't seem to do anything wrong so here's hoping for a great new album!

And they better come to Georgia on tour! It'd b a dream come true to see them.

Negativa are still working on their full length I believe as well as finding a new female vocalist.

Steeve Hurdle actually suggested to Luc that he reform Gorguts because Negativa is not the Gorgut's style band they were on their EP anymore. Apparently they are much more ambient now.

Also there's supposedly a leak of Luc playing a new song over a click track. I can't find it anywhere so if anyone here has it let me know! Please!
