KORN Bassist Apologizes To Bandmates In Book - Mar. 16, 2009
According to The Pulse of Radio, KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu's newly published memoir, "Got the Life: My Journey of Addiction, Faith, Recovery and Korn", contains letters of apology that Arvizu wrote to each of the other members of his band for his bad behavior in the past. The book details Arvizu's struggles with drug and alcohol addiction during KORN's early years and how he became a born again Christian to help get his life together and get sober. Arvizu said that he converted after his late father, who was also a Christian, told him that his dying wish was for his son to find God.

Arvizu is the second member of KORN to become born again, although unlike guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, he didn't quit the band over it. And even though singer Jonathan Davis says he has problems with organized religion, he told The Pulse of Radio it doesn't come between him and Arvizu. "I'm not one to judge," he said. "I think people — if they need Christianity, who am I to tell them they don't need it? I just have a problem with what the overall big picture of it is. It's not Fieldy believing in Christ and God, no. If that's what's working for him, and makes him a happier person, more power to it. But for me, my problem is with the overall picture, the big picture of what Christianity does and savior-based, you know, religions do. I mean, every war and every problem we have in this world's because of that."

Davis said that many of the lyrics on the new KORN album, which the band will begin recording later this year, will tackle organized religion.

Arvizu told the Associated Press he's given copies of his book to Davis and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, but has yet to hear from either about it.

Arvizu said he was 13 or 14 years old when he first became an alcoholic, adding that he would drink before and after school.

He also revealed that he was a "real jerk" during his drug days, and used to intimidate and bully people.

When asked if he thinks he'll face the same criticism his former bandmate Welch did when he quit KORN and found God, Arvizu replied, "I didn't go and quit anything. I remained who I am, so I don't know if anybody wants to criticize. I'm still me. I made some changes . . . but I'm ready to take the criticism and answer anybody's questions."

I interviewed this jackass back in the day. He showed up drunk and was very unprofessional. I told him he should leave the interview because he was incoherent and wasted. The little fat man didn't intimidate me.

I hope Fieldy developes ass cancer for that vomit inducing music video he made a couple years back.

I like Korns first 2 albums but as of 1998, they blow.

Loved this band when I was 14, but 10 years later it's a little too much to stand...

It's more of a miracle that they're still around let alone having ex members releasing their own biographies!

On the other hand, this comes from the same year that Limp Bizkit are headlining fuckin' shows!

Go figure!

That's true because as long as korn are making music there will be closed minded assholes like yourself to post moronic comments on websites. I personally grew out of Korn but if they're still making music they must be doing something right.

Don't care for Korn these days unfortunately... SYOTOS was a good album and I hoped they would have continued in that direction, but unfortunately that piece of shit "art" album they put out a few years ago was just so goddamn terrible... you guys are NOT the beatles, you are NOT radiohead, you are a fucking band that has gone through alot of sounds, and should know by now which one suits people the most (the one with heavily detuned guitars mixed with funk bass and drum patterns, like the first album)

On religion... its been theorised that the human mind is prone to believing in SOMETHING to plug the curiosity of "why?"... just human nature to want to believe in a higher power
But anyone who posts shit against someone who is clearly changing their life for the better because of Jesus really should take a hard look at themselves and wonder if they have been through self-imprisoned hell and back... the flood of guilt and emotions attached with a rock 'n roll lifestyle is just too much to handle sometimes
