Trial Begins For Woman Accused In SLIPKNOT-'Inspired' Slaying

According to the San Bernardino County Sun, the trial of a woman accused of helping her boyfriend stab a friend to death after listening to SLIPKNOT started last Thursday. Terry Ray Taylor, 21, was stabbed more than 20 times, and his neck was slashed, authorities said. Deputy District Attorney Karen Khim told jurors that Amber Rose Riley, now 22, and her boyfriend, Jason Lamar Harris, lured Taylor to the park, where they attacked him with butcher knives about 1:30 a.m. May 23, 2003. A previous prosecutor in the case, Doug Poston, said at a 2004 court hearing that Harris and Riley were listening to a SLIPKNOT CD before and after they killed Taylor. They particularly listened to "Disasterpiece", which has lyrics discussing slitting a victim's throat, Poston said. Riley also admitted watching a horror movie titled "Satan's School for Girls" before the slaying, Poston said. One motive for the killing was Riley's desire to see a dead body, the prosecutor said.

I'm not really into slipknot much. They certianly aren't to blame for this though... but it is nice to know that because they provided a soundtrack for this crime, i get to read about it when the murderers get thrown in the slammer, because I regularly check blabbermouth. honestly, i'd rather read it on drudge though. shouldn't be music news.

There may be a little guilt by association going on here.
Both listening to Slipknot and murder are both examples of screwed up logic and very bad decision making!
In all seriousness this is a very tragic and unfortunate crime. Slipknot is a very tragic and unfortunate band!

but seriously it makes me sad that people cant just accept the fact that someone is crazy/messed up enough that they kill someone or themselves... it always has to be some other element that "made" them do it, and most of the time it is Metal music

..Maybe Slipknot will get sued for all they're worth and not be able to make music anymore. Sadly though, the chances of that actually happening are pretty much nonexistent. Shame..I actually used to be into Slipknot before Vol. 3 came out.

But anyways, Slipknot inspired this crime as much as Manson inspired Columbine...
I actually don't know why people bag them out as much as they do. I guess that some of Corey's lyrics are over melodramatic, but in reality they are a fantastic "gateway" band for kids who want to get into real metal.
Okay, so I grew up in the nu metal era of things, and it didn't take me long to see that Slipknot were inspired by Slayer, Nine Inch Nails, and later albums had hints of Meshuggah and Tool. Sure enough, once me and my friends wanted to get to know more about metal, we started listening to the bands that inspired Slipknot, which lead us back to bands that kids would have otherwise not really known about, like Priest, Sabbath, UFO, Maiden and the likes

While you sit there behind your pc screen slagging off slipknot, sit back and ask yourself "Am I ever going to be in a band as big as Slipknot?"
I already know the reply "I wouldn't want to, they are crap and they don’t play metal" blah blah blah
However the truthful answer is "probably not."
Until you done the following
* Release 5 albums along with dvd's
* been in a band that sells out shows world wide
* makes copious amounts of money from YOUR OWN art
and be in a band whose name is known in most households, I suggest you go back to your day job (if you have one) and keep dreaming that you may make it as a musician.
End of the day to all you haters.. Do you actually think Slipknot give a shit about you? No, I doubt it very much.
Go on, post more replies about slipknot and my post…. It will just prove my point.
As for this main story, I think its pathetic that metal gets blamed for peoples actions and used as a scape goat.

I hate when people say they kill someone cause of the music. I you have the balls to kill someone you should have the balls to say you did. Slipknot has nothing to do with this so don't bring them in. Slipknot the best band out there. For me slipknot calms me down not want to kill some one. So all of the stupied people out there need to shut up.

they are NOT a bullshit band, but I will agree its a bullshit excuse to kill anyone..... just because you don't like someones music don't punk them out. THese people were just plain effin nuts to "want to see a dead body" go to a morgue or a funeral home, but as a woman to go along with that is just plain sick and I hope both get the maximum in jail for what they did.
