TESTAMENT Performs Entire First Two Albums In London; Photos, Video Footage Available - Mar. 27, 2009
San Francisco Bay Area thrashers TESTAMENT played their first two albums, 1987's "The Legacy" and 1988's "The New Order" in their entirety (almost) live at the Islington Academy in London, England on March 25, 2009.

Photos of the event can be found at RockersDigest.com. Fanfilmed video footage is available below.

TESTAMENT's setlist was as follows:

01. Over The Wall
02. The Haunting
03. Burnt Offerings
04. C.O.T.L.O.D.
05. Raging Waters
06. First Strike Is Deadly
07. Do Or Die
08. Alone In The Dark
09. Apocalyptic City
10. Musical Death (A Dirge) (excerpt)
11. Eerie Inhabitants
12. The New Order
13. Trial By Fire
14. Into The Pit
15. The Preacher
16. A Day Of Reckoning
17. Reign Of Terror
18. Disciples Of The Watch
19. Rapid Fire (jam)
20. More Than Meets The Eye
21. The Formation Of Damnation

TESTAMENT will embark on a North American headlining tour in May/June. Support on the trek will come from UNEARTH and LAZARUS A.D.

TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy commented: "It was really exciting last summer touring with JUDAS PRIEST, HEAVEN AND HELL, and MOTÖRHEAD, playing in front of all the old-school as well as new-school metalheads. Now we look forward to CRUSHING on our first headline tour on the Damnation Vacation U.S. run. Heavy metal forever!!!"

Prosthetic Records has set an April 14 release date for "Live at Eindhoven '87", a complete recording of TESTAMENT's performance at the 1987 edition of the Dynamo Open Air festival. A metal history lesson of the highest order, "Live at Eindhoven '87" sees the group's original lineup — vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Louie Clemente — at their absolute hungriest.

In addition to recently re-releasing TESTAMENT's 1997 album "Demonic" — hailed as "the most evil-sounding album of their career" (AMG) — and 1999's "The Gathering" (praised by Metal Hammer as the most important metal album of the late '90s), as well as the 2001 re-recordings collection "First Strike Still Deadly", Prosthetic has also just reissued "Demonic" and "The Gathering" on gatefold, etched double-vinyl. Strictly limited to 1,000 copies each, each pressing also includes 100 colored LPs (gold for "The Gathering", red for "Demonic").

...but this "playing the albums in their entirety" is getting a bit trendy.

Someone like Metallica can get away w/ it because there's such a stark contrast between 80's and 90's. i.e. - no one will ever want to see a "Load" show.

However, Testament's later albums (Low, Gathering) are arguably superior to their older ones (IMO). Thus, no reason to ignore them (although I saw they played two tracks off new album, which is really good).

I guess the point is...w/ some bands, the attitude is "we know everyone comes to hear the older stuff, so we'll throw the fans a bone and play the whole album." With Testament, there's no reason to do this, since later stuff is better. Again, IMO.

Just my 1.5 cents...

No 2 ways about it this was awesome and playing any of their later material would not have worked.

Reign of Terror was the icing on the cake and despite a 3 hour journey home was well worth it!

You can have your 1.5 cents back. The first 2 albums are classics. If I knew for sure they were doing that set in my area, I would go see that show in a second.

C.O.T.L.O.D. and Raging Waters were always my faves.

You are right though. "no one will ever want to see a "Load" show." So I'll keep the .5 cents.

I've got every studio album they've released, and though the first two are classics in their own right, I definitely think post-Skolnik era is better. I'm MUCH quicker to pop on something from "Low" and up than I am before "Low." In fact, I listened to "The Ritual" for the first time in probably almost 10 years a few weeks back.

However, I'm sure it sounded great live, and I'd be at any Testament show in a heartbeat. Hopefully Bostaph added a few extra drum kicks into the songs that Louie could never do ;-)

COMMENT | I don't know what the fuck you guys are talking about...

Testament, just like most other bands, put out their best shit early in their career. I love the Gathering and Low, but it's just not complete without guitar solos...especially when you compare it to their earlier stuff when they had one of the best metal guitarists on earth at the time. You take Alex away, and you still have good tunes, but definitely missing a very important element. Anyhow, just my opinion. I would definitely prefer to see this show over any mixed set list Testament show any day. In fact, this is just about as close as you can get to the "perfect show"...unless Iron Maiden were to perform their 3rd and 4th albums in their entirety.

COMMENT | Killer setlist and great video footage etc.

Not a big Testament fan, although saw them couple times back in the day. I wish more bands would do shows like this(like play only the 1st 2 albums).
