KORN, BUCKCHERRY, SHINEDOWN and DROWNING POOL are among the confirmed bands for the Rockfest 2009, set to take place Saturday, May 30 at The Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri.

Last year, the event sold out in weeks and is now the largest single-day festival in the country, drawing over 50,000 guests from Kansas City and surrounding areas.

This year's lineup also includes the first-ever solo appearance by SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor. Taylor appeared on KQRC 98.9 The Rock's top-rated "Johnny Dare Morning Show" this morning to talk about how excited he was for his first-ever solo appearance.

Tickets go on sale to registered Rockaholics this Wednesday and to the general public on Saturday.

Main Stage:

KORN
BUCKCHERRY
SHINEDOWN
COREY TAYLOR
SAVING ABEL
REV THEORY

Second Stage:

DROWNING POOL
DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED
DOPE
THE PARLOR MOB
BURN HALO
CROOKED X
THE FEDERATION OF HORSEPOWER

What will he sing?

Well, we can safely assume he's playing Slipknot and Stone Sour material. It would be cool if he played some Tenacious D, since he has a D tribute band. Some Antrax would be nice, too, as he almost fronted them.

I'm curious about the backing band...

COMMENT | the rest of the lineup isn't too interesting though...

I was actually excited this weekend when I saw that they'd release the lineup, date and whatnot. But, I am very disappointed. 3 of the Main Stage bands are from the 2nd Stage last year. Way to be original. I was excited, but not so much anymore. Corey Taylor is the wild card. I have a deep respect for him as a singer/performer for Slipknot and Stone Sour. I want to catch Burn Halo, The Parlor Mob, Dope, Corey Taylor and Shinedown. Everyone else can get fucked in the ass with a red-hot poker...slowly.

I'm always somewhat disappointed with Rock Fest's lineup. I went last year for STP. It's a very commercial rock radio station that puts this show on so therefore they appeal more to that audience. But it's still the coolest radio station in Kansas City, for its music and DJs.

Seeing Corey on his own and not with Slipknot or Stone Sour.

Wonder if he will sing , and do some acoustic stuff.

I had pretty much decided not to go this year, because they always have the same bands every year. Seriously, how many times does one need to see Shinedown. They really need to shake up the mainstage lineup.

But changed my mind when they announced that Corey was going to be there solo. That should be interesting. They interviewed him and said that he'd be doing some Stone Sour, some solo songs, and some covers. Almost sounds like a DumFux show for a bigger crowd.

Also looking forward to seeing Dope. Will have to look up some of those other 2nd stage bands, haven't even heard of several of them.
