DOWN To Hit The Studio In October - Mar. 31, 2009
DOWN — the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA) — has issued the following update:

"DOWN's been offered a great amount of festivals all over Europe this summer, so here we come. We also have a couple of dates on our own with the mighty ST. VITUS!

"We're in the final stages of the documentary and it should be out soon.

"After the European festivals, we're planning one more run of select markets in The States from August to September. Then we are headed back to the studio for October through December to record what will eventually become [the fourth DOWN album]."

Upcoming DOWN shows:

Jun. 13 - Download - Donington, UK
Jun. 19 - Hellfest - Clisson, France
Jun. 20 - Sonisphere - Nijmegen, Holland
Jun. 26 - Graspop Metal Meeting - Dessel, Belgium
Jun. 28 - Gods Of Metal - Milan, Italy
Jul. 03 - Roskilde Festival - Roskilde, Denmark
Jul. 04 - Sonisphere - Hockenheimring, Germany
Jul. 05 - With Full Force - Leipzig, Germany
Jul. 06 - Metalcamp - Tolmin, Slovenia
Jul. 11 - Sonisphere - Barcelona, Spain

In October 2008, DOWN released a "deluxe edition" of its critically acclaimed third album, "Over the Under". The deluxe package, which was made available as a Best Buy exclusive, includes a DVD with over 30 minutes of previously unreleased live performances and behind-the-scenes footage. The album was released on Down Records in conjunction with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group (ILG).

Italian news blog Musica Metal has posted video footage of DOWN's July 22, 2008 performance in Bologna, Italy as the support band for METALLICA. Watch the clip below.

Good news.

Looking forward to both the documentary and the fourth release.
I too would relish the thought of a new COC release as well but it doesn't look like it's in the cards for 2009. Damn, Woody must be bored out of his mind by now.

I love Down, but personally thought the last album was a little lackluster. I hope new album is more like 1st 2...

I like Karl but I like some Pepper with my COC. Even just do a new album with the actual Blind lineup.

Either way, Down is good live and the first album was amazing. Since then I've been a first day buyer and have been underwhelmed each time. A lot of the same thing.

Each COC album has been completely different than the one before it and I love that.

Unless a new Down album is actually going to bring something new and interesting to the table then just give me a new COC album.

How about Crowbar? Or Eyehategod?

I was really hoping for some US tour from either of the bands, and looks like we won't get either :(

At least EHG is doing a few shows, though I'm missing out on them all...

You will be disappointed then because if you have gone to Down's recent shows, they'd show a video(at least at the one i went to) with teaser footage of what they filmed over the past few years, on the road/backstage antics, etc. However there will be a lot of live footage. Hopefully it's better then Pantera's 3 Vulgar Videos From Hell. Don't get me wrong it's a great dvd but they hardly had any live footage.

As far as Down IV goes, I can't wait. Hopefully it's better then Over The Under. Don't get me wrong, I love Over The Under, I thought it was the best album of 2007, but it wasn't as good as Nola or II.
