VELVET REVOLVER and ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has posted an update on the recording process for his new solo album, which he is tracking with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Slash writes on his MySpace page, "We've nailed four killer tracks with four amazing vocals so far and nailing another one Tuesday [April 14], so things are going extremely well. Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless and the rhythm section, Josh and Chris, are priceless. Eric Valentine is a genius producer, not to mention his team is great. All in all this last couple of weeks have been a hell a lot of fun and we're just getting started. It's definitely going to be a kick-ass record, if I do say so myself."
Slash's wife Perla Hudson said in a video interview at Rockerrazzi.com that both Ozzy Osbourne and Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) of the BLACK EYED PEAS will make guest appearances on her husband's upcoming solo album.
Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland.
VELVET REVOLVER is currently searching for a replacement for Weiland, who was dismissed in April 2008.

Led Zep's nonsinging members are reuniting for a tour which will feature new vocalist (former Creed) Scott Stapp. Hearing the announcement, SLASH issued a statement on behalf of VR saying Stapp's signing came at the expense of VR where he had been expected to sign. SLASH said the new frontrunner for VR is Rick Astley. Astley is an English singer-songwriter and musician. He has released or appeared on recordings that have sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. He is best known for his 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up". His career has hit a high level with internet promotion. He was voted by internet users as the Best Act Ever at the 2008 MTV Music Video Awards for his "Never Gonna Give You Up" internet video.

wasn't the right way, that's for sure. as far as having your "art" heard. Everybody's choices are their "way". Does that make it right? I doubt Best Buy or Geffen think Axl's way is the right way. Axl's way is a paranoid, stubborn, hermit way. I'm sure his "band" member, who are silent & must remain so, aren't so happy with Axl's way. But its Axl's solo project, so no one gets an equal say. TBoner, not that we have any way to know this, but do you think Axl's pleased right now, all pumped Chin Dem is released, his 17 year masterpiece flying off the shelves of BB, dominating rock radio, and even crossing over, poised to begin a triumphant tour, bringing the masterful songs of Chin Dem to the Masses, playing the massive rock hits the album has yielded, soaking in the fruits of his 17 year labor. Finally the world gets to hear Chin Dem & they adore it! Its a critical success, and he's a rock genius for doing it "his way"....well, I did hear the song Chin Dem being played on a radio station coming from a break today. its getting some play. My toilet plays "better" when it flushes....Ringtones, that's it, that's how he can get this masterpiece heard!

so "love of the art" = dicking everyone around for 15 yrs? that makes no sense. this is wayyyyyyyy past doing him doing anything "for the love of the art". i can see taking 4-5 years to put something together, but 15?!? that's insane. slash is out there having a good time, and so what if he gets some big name singers. he's getting them partly because he can, not to necessarily make something "popular". it would be stupid to do an album with 10 different nobody's. he still has to make something off the album to pay the bills.

Poison laughed at Slash, do you not get the irony in that? He was laughing at them, which anyone with any credibility would too, one of rock's biggest fluff acts in history. Poison is first rate suckage. Slash TOLD that story. To emphasize the ridiculesness of him trying out for them. They cut him not cuz he couldn't play, but his shoe fashion. Posers, 100%.
Prodigy DJ is? That's great. It is. But it doesn't necessarily translate to greatness. GnR & Slash's greatness was their raw energy they brought to rock again. Their rippin' sound. Do I need to even explain that? Their attitude, and great playing in the context of a BAND!! wow, wild concept.
Who cares if Buckethead or DJ can play 5 notes to Slashs 2. Where does that get you? It gets you Chin. Dem. A flop, with misplaced noodling on the album. Forgettable album, with forgettable players that will never be known more than GnR replacement players...yes greater than I've ever done, but that's not that point. (I hate when people say "DJ > you" sort of BS)....if Slash weren't a unique player with a great sound, a rock presense, so many wouldn't ask him to play for them, people far great & more influential than Axl F*cking Rose. you don't tell your fans that you are working on a new album, and then take that long to release it. that, to me, equals dicking people around. granted, it's his right to take his time, but this album kept getting talked up (and, in his defense, i'm sure some of it was by people other than axl). he got his fans hopes up early, and year after year let them down. i think he definitely overthought everything, trying to put out the best album he could, and in the end, failed at that attempt.
and for the record, i don't have an '80's iroc-z that doesn't start...it's a '70 torino gt ;)

then what is GnR? What is the essense of that name? It's one man's vision, ONE man's hirings, songs, revolving door of musicians...again, that's not a bad thing, but its not a band.
when gnr first came out, I thought Axl was great as well. the whole "BAND". Songs, attitude, stage presence, chemistry. They were special...Axl ceased being "cool" after 1990. he bought the hype. He became like Cher on stage, costume change, tight f*ggy shorts with a blazer, plaid on plaid, just ridicules. His singing suffered greatly on UYI tour, it was horrid, while the band got tighter. Axl's pattened stage moves were gone for more showy running the stage like a circus animal. And he believed he was expected to stop the show & berate people because that was part of what he did, what he'd become. Then the cancellations, all the other BS that fans got the brunt of....then 15 years of making a rock record. I'm not Slash over Axl, I'm just longer a fan of a guy that ruined his band & his own image. you have nothing left except Chin Dem...no thanks. ZZZ

I was banned last time for some reason... I guess Robin must've been checking blabbermouth and... he got pissed, so...
I was just driving home, and I saw this kid with a Guns N Roses tshirt... he probably is in junior high... I'm not kidding... u know, jokes aside, I have a band myself... and I'd kill for that kind of love from kids, u know?... to think that these guys had it all (the shirt is from the Appetite era, the REAL Guns), and then just blew it, is beyond me.
I'm not bashing anyone... I respect everyone's desicions to do whatever they want... all I'm saying is that their job now is almost as clear as ever: they have to reunite, not only for respect to fans, but also to regain respect for themselves; these people are parodies of what they used to be, and it's not funny anymore, really.
Let Slash get his record out, good for him cuz he seems to be having a blast; let Axl dwell in is misery, cuz lets face it, his whole drama bs about blaming everyone can only mean that he's a miserable fuck deep inside, cuz we, the people on the outside, can speculate whatever we want, but nobody really knows what's going on in his mind, all we have is what he lets out, and, u know, talking like that can only mean u havent moved on... u know, all those things about how he considers Slash a "cancer"... wow... man, I don't know if he's a cancer or pisces, but those are heavy words.
