KILLSWITCH ENGAGE: More New Album Details Revealed - Apr. 14, 2009
Massachusetts' finest hard rock purveyors KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will release their eagerly anticipated fourth album, entitled simply "Killswitch Engage", on June 30 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was produced by Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE) and co-produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Reckoning", "The Forgotten", "Light in a Darkened World" and "Starting Over".

Commented vocalist Howard Jones: "It was time for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something a little different with this record. It definitely still sounds like us, but we needed to be refreshed and take things a little further."

Regarding the fact that KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's new album is the second self-titled effort of the band's career, Jones said, "When we all couldn’t agree on an album title, someone suggested we just keep it self-titled and we all pretty much agreed…gives it the feeling of a fresh new beginning."

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE has been playing a new song, the tentatively titled "Light in a Darkened World" (see fan-filmed video footage below), during its set on the Music As A Weapon Tour, where the band is serving as main support to DISTURBED. The group also performed the song at the first annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held on Tuesday, April 7 in Los Angeles. The song, sandwiched between "My Curse" and the band's uniquely KILLSWITCH'ed cover of DIO's classic anthem "Holy Diver", generated plenty of excitement among the crowd and set the tone for the show. The awards and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's performance will be broadcast on MTV2 on May 2.

More information on the upcoming CD will be made available soon at RoadrunnerRecords.com.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will spend the summer touring as a main-stage attraction on the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Jones stated, "We are excited and thrilled to share the stage this summer with BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON. We hope to entertain and enjoy our time interacting with both old friends and new friends daily. Prepare yourself for laughs, riffs and the unexpected. We will do all we can to make you move, yell and ponder who made the mistake of letting us onstage. You have been warned. Oh, and watch new episodes of 'The Office'."

Good call. Album names are part of the fun of being in a band. Time to make a statement. That's just boring, even if it was the first time.

Is Adam playing the drums again? Will his massive spikey blond hair return?

Sure, the issue with the title is discussed in the article. But that doesn't mean it isn't still redundant. They give an explanation for it, but the reason is incredibly weak and barely holds water.

Oh well. It's the music that matters most. Still, it's important, because this is bound to cause confusion in the future.

"Hey man, what's your favorite Killswitch album?"
"The self-titled one."
"which one lol"

I do love KE. The verses AND chorus on this new tune are in 6, but the scream verse/sing (slow) chorus is still in full effect. I'll hold judgment until I hear the album, but their 4 -> 6 -> 4 formula is a trademark and it's kinda overdone on their older albums. Maybe I'm overanalyzing it.

what?!? i dont get what those numbers try to tell... cover looks nice but having a second self titled record is confusing the sh out of anyone soon. wat if you try to preorder the record and run to your cd-shop on the release date and all you get is the oldest kse record ever made cause they ordered a self-titled... its retarded all over.

I can see your point! They should have went with something else! Like we called Metallica's "Metallica" album the black album...we will call this the Leopard album as mentioned above

Not into the new song...Too much of the same ol' Unearth, As I Lay Dying sounding stuff - At The Gates wanna be riffs...

"To The Sons Man"...By far my favorite KE track...
