CHILDREN OF BODOM To Release 'Skeletons In The Closet' Collection Of Covers - Apr. 23, 2009
Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will release a new album, titled "Skeletons In The Closet", in September through Spinefarm Records. The follow-up to last year's "Blooddrunk" is a selection of cover versions, some of them existing recordings, others specially laid down for this release.

CHILDREN OF BODOM has been recording covers since the early days of its career, some predictably heavy ("Silent Scream" by SLAYER, for example), others reflecting an altogether broader taste ("Talk Dirty To Me" by POISON), so fans will be intrigued to see which of the existing ones get the final nod here, and also which news ones are added to the list.

The following is a list of CHILDREN OF BODOM covers recorded thus far (Note: It is not yet known which of these songs, if any, will make it to the "Skeletons In The Closet" collection):

* "Aces High" by IRON MAIDEN
* "Don't Stop At The Top" by SCORPIONS
* "Hellion" by W.A.S.P.
* "Mass Hypnosis" by SEPULTURA
* "No Commands" by STONE
* "Shot In The Dark" by OZZY OSBOURNE
* "Iron, Steel, Metal" by WIZZARD
* "Rebel Yell" by BILLY IDOL
* "Talk Dirty To Me" by POISON
* "Latomeri" by KLAMYDIA
* "Bed Of Nails" by ALICE COOPER
* "She Is Beautiful" by ANDREW W.K.
* "Silent Scream" by SLAYER
* "Somebody Put Something in My Drink" by the RAMONES
* "Oops!... I Did It Again" by BRITNEY SPEARS

One less album they have to put out on their current label and the sooner they can get another deal...provided they can get one in this ass economic climate.
These guys have laid a turd since Hatecrew and thats that.

Boring!

Though, not sure about the "value" of getting this.

Isn't "Skeletons in the Closet" a Gamma Ray album?

And isn't "Aren't You Dead Yet?" a Carnal Forge album?

I could be wrong.

Bodom is great, but I've never liked their cover songs.

cover albums make ZERO sense. I would rather hear the original most the time. At a live show as a bonus surprise it is cool but a whole album's worth is very gay!

An album of covers can be great. But in this case, it just feels forced.

A covers album should be a tribute to the bands that helped you develop, your own take on those songs, and a sign of the bands that shaped your own sound. See Garage Days Revisited for a good example: in those songs you can hear Metallica's influences, you can hear the music that helped shape them as a band.

This just feels like Bodom trying to make money from their current popularity by playing songs that will surprise people. They're known in the mainstream, and yet they're extreme enough that to said mainstream they appear one of the most extreme metal bands around. And so they jump on this by covering artists like Britney Spears, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper, etc, just for that "OMG BODOM COVERING X BAND!" factor.

It's always a bad idea to put some keyboard on a Slayer cover!

putting a britney spears cover on the album is a bad marketing decision, it will turn many fans away

Bodom's cover of "Mass Hypnosis" SUCKS! If Sepultura weren't so busy sucking they would be outraged at this atrocity.

Children of Bodom never covered Iron, Steel, Metal. Them and Wizzard appeared on the self titled Children of Bodom EP. with that song on it played by Wizzard. To this day that song is commonly mistaken as a Bodom cover.
