METALLICA: Clips From 'Time Warp' Special Available - Apr. 23, 2009
METALLICA will be featured on the April 29 episode of Discovery Channel's series "Time Warp", in which MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman — along with digital-imaging expert Matt Kearney — uses new technologies to bring truly never-before-seen wonders into a form that your body can actually process.

Using the latest in high-speed photography, the "Time Warp" team takes some natural events (a cat licking its paw, a champagne bottle being opened) — and some not-so-natural (a water balloon to the face, a raw piece of chicken exploding) — and turns them into a thing of both beauty and learning.

Commented METALLICA in a statement: "Want to see what really happens while we're playing? Discovery Channel's 'Time Warp' came to HQ [METALLICA's headquarters in San Rafael, north of San Francisco] about a month ago with their high-speed cameras to film us in action and the results air on Wednesday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m.

"If you haven't checked it out before, 'Time Warp' is hosted by brainiac MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman along with digital-imaging expert Matt Kearney . . . they use new technologies to film all kinds of 'ordinary' events and slow it way down so you can see the activity in a whole new light.

"We had a blast hanging with Jeff and Matt, so check your local listings, and for more info, click here."

"Time Warp" airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Check out a clip from the program at this location.

I was actually impressed with kirks playing at the rock n roll hall of fame induction and I thought his solo with all the other guitar legends was by far the best!

long live heavy metal!

Kirk's playing is about as sloppy as it gets, this side of Janick Gers, and his tone is shit.

Not saying he's untalented...just undisciplined. He could be so much better with some genuine focus.

this whole band is a waste of time...their sound is dated...they don't listen to anything new...there are 16 year old kids out there right now who have never heard any of the "good" metallica that are writting songs that crush anything metallica has ever done...they should of broke up after "justice"...i love there old stuff,,the same way my dad loves the ccr stuff and ac/dc...metallica is turning into a shitty harder "kiss"...and it's sad. i perfer to remember them as the bad ass epic thrash band that rocked 20 years ago.

I like metallica, love old school metallica (those, who saw them live even in the early 90s know the difference...), but while they just make best use of the options they have to promote themselves it is the metallica fans that contribute to the dying of the community I love. the gap between metallica and the other metal and heavy rock bands has become ridiculous.

I don't know how things are in various other countries, but I live in a place where metallica and ac/dc sold out their 2009 tours within a few minutes... and smaller bands are struggling to survive and to fill the empty rows in the small venues. let's take exodus to remain in the same origin - maybe 400 ppl attending compared to 8000 for metallica.

remember: it's us who are the scene. i am going to see metallica next month, but my money will also be spent for smaller bands. what will happen after metallica, maiden, slayer, motörhead, megadeth, priest, testament and the others called it a day. nobody to fill the void. why? because those who could don't get a real chance by most of the people on here.
support your scene! metallica über alles - not for me!

Kirk writes great solos, period. Who cares how many strings he sweeps?

to comment back...to babyfaceassassin...no one loves this band more then myself i named my first kid "justice" for fucks sake...their first four records have saved my life...and i respect the fact that there are folks that dig the "newer" stuff, but it still sounds dated!...even "death magnetic"...and yes i can be a music snob...i been in bands and part of the local music scene for 15 years...and i have over 200 shows under my belt..published scene mags and paid out of pocket to get bigger bands to come out..so, yea i will be a snob...as for bands that can wipe the floor with metallica...how bout the band they ripped off from day one..motorhead..and just to list a few bands everyone knows..shadows fall, all that remains, killswitch engage, a7x, lamb of god, the sword, winds of plague, origin, hatebreed...as far as the bashing...thats the only thing keeping this site up...so, sorry for seeming like a ass/dickhead...but yes in "my opinon" this band has seen better days..and jumping on the "next wave of thrash" band wagon is disrespectful to their fans and theirselves.

Why would you want any sound when it's that slow-mo? You're an idiot.

go back to your physics class. The real sound played that slow would sound a whole bunch of octaves lower and would hardly be recognizable and probably would not be hear, except by dogs and whales :)

Hetfield smashing a guitar on the floor in slo-mo?

Disappointed. Thought they'd have some cool thrashy downpicking or something at least..

Your second post was bang on mate and I dont have a problem with it because you stated your opinion and backed it up. I loved the first 4 albums, thought the black album was ok, not keen on load and re load and the last two seem forced to me.
