VELVET REVOLVER and ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has posted an update on the recording process for his new solo album, which he is tracking with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne and AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows.
Slash writes on his MySpace page: "Hey, I hope everybody is doing well. These are some pretty harsh times we're experiencing at present. But I feel optimistic that things are going to get better in relatively short order. I have faith in our new President, especially after eight years of having absolutely no faith in the last one whatsoever. Obama seems to be on the path to righteousness. I guess we'll just have to watch and wait.
"Anyway, hard at work in the studio. We are six tracks into it and it sounds really great — great playing and super killer tones, not to mention stellar vocals so far. I'm still not at liberty to publicly divulge any singers' names, but trust me, they're amazing. I know a lot of you out there know who at least some of them are. I will however, give you working titles for a couple songs: 'We're All Gonna Die' is one, 'These Last Words' is another. There is one song called 'Crucify The Dead' and another called 'Beautiful, Dangerous'.
"We have about eight songs left to record and I'm really excited about every one.
"On the VELVET REVOLVER front, not a whole lot news to report singer-wise, which is a drag. But this is one of those situations where just when you're ready to give up, something great happens. So, we're hanging in there until then, no matter what."
Slash's wife Perla Hudson said in a video interview at Rockerrazzi.com that Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) of the BLACK EYED PEAS will also make a guest appearance on her husband's upcoming solo album.
Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland.
VELVET REVOLVER is currently searching for a replacement for Weiland, who was dismissed in April 2008.

Do you think Slash is recording this new album with his made in Chinese-Labor-Camp Les Paul signature model? I bet he has a holy grail made by the best from Nashville. Like Gary Moore and Zack Wylde, those off the shelf guitars, either the Chinese turds or the true Gibsons, are not the same quality models that they own. Just my hunch...and something us guitar geeks can discuss. Good luck Slash. You are one of the best out there and you have a great attitude.

"Solo Album Update". Yeah... and suddenly, Obama. What the fuck? Are American musicians about to start praying to Obama? They should be intelligent people... it's just a politician, there will be no radical change, your country has to go on and your new government knows that very well, stop believing in fucking slogans, they're just... advertisements, that's all.

Great name, I want one of those.
I was surprised when I read his book, that his main Les Paul, the sunburst one w/ no pickguard that he played on Appetite & everything since, is NOT a Gibson. It's a copy that was hand built by some luthier in California.
Can't believe that Fergie bitch is on the album. Urgh...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA "safe from terrorists" have you not heard of 9/11? I swear, republicans have entered the twilight zone. Only in opposite world can you be hit by the biggest terrorist event in US history on your watch and then be hailed as keeping the people safe from terrorists.
HAHAHAHAHA too funny. Thanks for making me laugh.

You pretty much said what I was thinking! It's bad enough he was advised and took no action weeks before, but to have people praise him for keeping us "safe from terrorists"... completely laughable and unintelligible! Gonna leave know and cruise the rest of these internets!

Although many will contest this - some of the best 'sounding' Les Pauls are custom made 'copies'. I have played (been humbled by) some damn fine copies in my time.
Never buy a guitar based on what logo may be on the head.
Looking forward bigtime to listening to whatever Slash comes up with on this record. I do wonder about a claim made by Steven Adler - that he will be playing on a track...????
There are stories all over the net about this - look it up. Steve claims he will be playing on a track (on Slash's record) and that Slash will be producing a record by Adler's Appetite.

I agree with mgr and IIsoviaII. If Obama starts screwing up massively (which he's already on that track) all those musicians that we're crying about the last administration (i.e. protest songs, album covers, etc...) will be dead silent.

"I'm not going to say Bush was our best president. I will, however thank him for keeping our country safe from terrorists."
And there you have it - another customer placated by the Great American hype machine.
AMERICA...FUCK YEAH! Gulp n' swallow, kids...gulp n' swallow.
Terrorists! Terrorists! Everywhere a terrorist!
The real terrorists are the the boys running the show behind the presidency - The United States of Terrorism.

Slash is trying to say, "Hey I know everyone is hurting and my solo record isn't on top of everyone's priority list, but I'm hopeful for us all."
He THEN speaks about HIS cd. He didn't want to be a dick. That's how I see it. Get off his back about being politic. He's trying to be conscious of others.

Holy hell... Slash, M. Shadows, Bush, Fergie and Obama all suck. Just a melting pot of pure suckage to the nth.
Everyone shits on Axel but lets not forget Slash has done absolutely dick as well, and as painful as it is to say, Chinese Democracy is better than anything Slash has touched since GnR.
pravus_x let's not count first Snakepit record cause it was released when Slash still was in GNR. BUT let's count both the second Snakepit LP, which was fucking awesome, and first VR which was also pretty listenable in terms of having some catchy tunes and some foot-tapping rock n' roll. Libertad too soft and modern for me, but those two albums beat the shit out of the overproduced, cut and pasted from pieces, totally lacking authenticity, so called "genius" or "grand" songs on Chinese Democracy. He's done more than Axl since his departure from GNR, live with it.

I know a thing or two about guitars, i agree with the above post, never buy a guitar cuz of the name on the headstock,
Most peoples dream guitar comes from what they like, sound, pickups, strings, lowered action , slight adjustments that are made to suit ones individual taste, also, never try to sound like anyone else, no mateer how influenced you are, sound like yourself,
Also, yes some of the better guitars out there are copys, no question about it, and for the guitar geek, yes of course slash plays a custom built guitar, however the guitars thru gibson and epiphone that were put out are collectables not meant really to be banged around, sort of to have a piece of the artist, personally ill take the epiphone over the gibson any day of the week, that guitar is rock solid,
As for Gorak the asshole, quit it dude, you suck n nobody likes you.
