DEF LEPPARD To Perform At COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION Awards

Last week DEF LEPPARD, one of a handful of select groups including THE BEATLES, LED ZEPPELIN and PINK FLOYD that have been awarded the RIAA's ( Recording Industry Association of America) prestigious Diamond Award more than once, received three first-round CMT Award nominations. Today they were named as performers, along with KEITH URBAN, TAYLOR SWIFT, SUGARLAND, BRAD PAISLEY, RASCAL FLATTS and TOBY KEITH, for the 2009 "CMT Music Awards" which will premiere live on Tuesday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m. ET on CMT and CMT.com. DEF LEPPARD is nominated for its performance of "Photograph" with TAYLOR SWIFT, from "CMT Crossroads: Def Leppard and Taylor Swift"; one for "CMT Performance Of The Year" and the other for "Wide Open Country Video Of The Year." Their collaboration with Tim McGraw on "Nine Lives" also received a nomination as the "Wide Open Country Video Of The Year." Fans are invited to cast their votes now at this location for the final four nominees in each category. Please note: you can vote until May 11. You MUST go through the registration process to be able to vote, and you CAN register more than once. Whether or not DEF LEPPARD goes to the next round is up to you!

I hate to admit this but this is the best I have heard Joe Elliott sound in quite some time... I am a big fan up thru Hysteria however they lost me for quite sometime thereafter... Maybe this was his "on" night... He sounded really good...

These cornhole wranglers create music that is complete poo, put on horrid live performances (check out Youtube videos with Joe Elliot completely eating shit, vocally, on stage) and are the biggest a-holes to boot. They've especially eaten balls during the years that Vivian Campbell has been with them.

I agree totally. And yeah, they lost it after Hysteria..
With all this country promo, dancing with the stars, etc, you know, their next record might actually sell. For most people, Def Leppard disappeared about 15-20 years ago. This can't hurt. Too bad they don't rock anymore.

There's something hideously greedy about what Leppard have become – I've defended them in the past because of the first four albums but it's hard to now. There's experimenting in different musical styles and then there's just being lame and shameless.
On the plus side - Joe 'The Mouth' Elliot sang that song much better there than when I saw them last year, But then it was hard not to.

Vivian campbell playing in def lesbian was one of the cringes heard rouns the world in the 80's. From 2 of the greatest rock albums with dio to THIS was a wake up call for me, for it was then I learned he was a lazy, super-gay pompous asshole.(no offense gay people of the world) he totally sold out and really makes no contribution to the bands inflated sense of musicianship. when hysteria dropped, i vomited blood due to the over production and general suck factor. now they've taken it over to country...a perfect fit. Now all the rednecks can have these britrawk nightmares lull their retarded inbred children to sleep.
