METALLICA Drummer On 'The Rachel Maddow Show'; Video Available

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was a guest on yesterday's (Monday, April 27) edition of MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show", featuring Maddow's take on the biggest stories of the day, political and otherwise, including lively debate with guests from all sides of the issues, in-depth analysis and stories no other shows in cable news will cover. Lars talked music and whether gay marriage really is a bigger threat than the swine flu. Watch his appearance on the program below. METALLICA's digital "box set" called "The Complete Metallica", featuring the band's entire 163-track recorded catalog, is available exclusively through iTunes and is scheduled to surface at all other digital outlets on April 28. "The Complete Metallica" was released during a high-profile period for the San Francisco-based hard-rock heroes. On March 29, Activision released the highly anticipated video game Guitar Hero: Metallica, featuring 28 songs from the band's nearly 30-year career. In addition, METALLICA was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which honors legendary rock and roll performers, in a ceremony which took place in Cleveland on April 4. METALLICA recently completed its first proper tour of the United States and Canada in four years in support of the platinum-selling "Death Magnetic", which debuted at No. 1 in September 2008 and won two Grammy Awards for "Best Metal Performance" (for the track "My Apocalypse") and "Best Recording Package."

lars is such an easy target for the ignorant. he's more intellegent than most of the people in metal. but then again, i understand people with a maturity level of a 14 year old wouldn't understand that. i'd love to see lars and mustaine together on a show like this for an hour.

I think the Golden gate bridge in the background, and the fact that she interviewed SF Mayor Gavin Newsome in studio would indicate that she's in SF.
I'm a pretty big Metallica fan, but in no way should Lars be put in the
"one of the greatest drummers ever" category

MSNBC is hardly "super left wing".
Olbermann wasn't even hired to be a liberal commentator originally; it was a role he grew into.
MSNBC tried to be like Fox News for years, only hiring right-wing crazies (Michael Savage, Alan Keyes, Joe Scarborough, Tucker Carlson), but the ratings went nowhere because they couldn't out-Fox Fox News.
It made decent business sense for them to carve out a little left-wing niche. Their ratings are still way behind Fox News, but they're still getting better ratings than they ever have in the past.
But again, a 2-hour block of unashamedly liberal commentary in prime time doesn't make them a left-wing network. They still rely on plenty of right-wing hacks to provide commentary throughout the day.
