ALTER BRIDGE Singer Says Band 'Will Carry On' - Apr. 28, 2009
Singer Myles Kennedy has shot down reports that the newly announced reunion of CREED will effectively put an end to ALTER BRIDGE, the band he formed with then-former CREED members, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall.

Kennedy says, "Many of you are wondering how this CREED reunion tour will affect the future of ALTER BRIDGE. No worries, it won't. I can assure you that as soon as they finish in October, we will move forward.

"Contrary to false statements that might lead you to believe otherwise, ALTER BRIDGE continues to be paramount to the four of us.

"The guys have my full support. It's a very complex situation to say the least. It had to be done.

"I appreciate the fact that so many of you are concerned about our future. With that said, everything is going to be all right.

"ALTER BRIDGE's third record is well on its way. The guys will embark on their reunion tour, I will make my record, and then we will carry on."

CREED officially announced its reunion yesterday (Monday, April 27) after months of speculation. The group, which broke up in 2004, will head out on the road for a summer tour beginning on August 6 in Pittsburgh and wrapping up on October 14 in Nashville. Six songs have already been written for the band's fourth studio album, which will likely be titled "Full Circle". Recording for the project, CREED's first set of new material since 2001's "Weathered", will begin shortly in Nashville. A single will probably arrive before the tour begins, with the full album to come during or immediately after the trek.

The reunion will feature vocalist Scott Stapp, Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall, who quit the band in 2000 and was replaced by Brett Hestla.

Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall have recorded two albums as ALTER BRIDGE, with Myles Kennedy. Stapp launched a solo career after CREED split that was derailed by drug and domestic problems.

Stapp told The Pulse of Radio shortly after CREED's break-up that it should never have happened in the first place. "The announcement never would have been made, because we didn't feel as a band that we needed to break up to go pursue some solo things," he said. "But when you are successful and the people around you start growing, and sometimes there's a communication breakdown. And that's something that I've definitely learned through this, is don't talk through anybody, you know. Call your friends when you've got something important to talk about."

In a statement about the reunion, Tremonti said, "We're all very excited to reconnect with our fans and each other after six long years," while Stapp added, "It's amazing how life can change and bring you full circle. Time gave us all a chance to reflect, grow and gain a deeper appreciation of our friendships, artistic chemistry, passion for music, and sincere love for our fans! It's rare in life to get a second chance to make a first impression and we embrace the opportunity."

Alter Bridge really wasn't that bad, Tremonti's a pretty good guitarist, but Scott Stapp really held them back.

I'm skeptical too, hopefully this is just a big payday and not a career decision.
But it seems Myles is working on a solo cd, that should be pretty cool.

Bullshit this is. No way would Creed be re-forming if it wasnt for Alterbridge's success.

Do you think Myles might have actually said this because it's true?
Crazy thought there - he must be deluding himself because he's only
THE SINGER IN THE BAND so what does he know.

It's either a contractual obligation or financial or both - Alter Bridge had to finance their Wind-Up buyout and the recording of Blackbird.
Regardless, fans of both bands and Myles' work get something out of this - and maybe the US might finally start appreciating Alter Bridge after all.

I wish both bands would disappear forever. That power ballad song/video Blabbermouth posted is just as generic and shitty as Creed.

Alter Bridge's latest album, Blackbird, was simply mindblowing. That was one good piece of music. Can't really say the rest for the entire Creed catalog...except for My Own Prison, of course.

unlike you haters I think it's great they are getting back to gether. it must kill you that the grunt and growl bands you like can't make music that people can understand and like. anybody who doesn't love that song on here by alter bridge has no buisness telling me what music is good. just because your bands are not talented enough to sell out as you like to call it does not mean that bands who do make heavy and melodic music that people like me enjoy are sell outs. it just means we like great music that stands the test of time and that you can actualy understand the what the singer is saying.hate all you want they will still be better than the crap you call music.

arguing about which band is better, creed or alter bridge, is like arguing about what feels better, slamming your cock in the window or door. they both suck and so do both bands.

maybe you need to have a sit down with John Bush. I think he might have some wisdom on the subject of "yeah, this is something they have to do, but the band is still intact when the reunion is over".

Myles said "ALTER BRIDGE's third record is well on its way. The guys will embark on their reunion tour, I will make my record, and then we will carry on."

My record? Sounds like it's over. I like both bands, but Creed will be playing arenas while Alter Bridge was stuck opening for other bands.

Myles, just go ahead and join Velvet Revolver now.

hey, has anyone seen either of these guys live?
Myles can sing freakin circles around Stapp.
Aterbridge great live, Creed was good live with effects and the extreme volume Brett from Poison sounds like he can sing too!

ie the ex-Creed guys are broke or owe a record label money, thus the reunion! I think the John Bush comparisons are accurate too. Don't really like either band, but this Myles guy is quite a good vocalist. See the writing on the wall dude, your boys just ditched you for a big payday and they ain't coming back! it IS a business afterall!!

Alter Bridge has been working on their third disc and an Alter Bridge DVD will be coming out soon.

If you have never seen Alter Bridge you need to check them out. They are one of those few bands that are actually better live and will blow you away. All the guys in AB are very humble too.

I think this short lived Creed tour/CD is a great way for each guy to make mega bucks in a few months and will be a great platform for Alter Bridge since the exposure will have many more people following the guys after this short fling is over. Fans who will be turned on to Alter Bridge.

Myles is an incredible and very humble singer/guitarist and Mark is an incredible humble guitarist. Brian and Scott are great too and a rock solid rhythm section. Once you find a perfect match like Alter Bridge has, there is no reason to stop making awesome music together. There was obviously a lot of tension in Creed. This reunion gives Creed fans what they want and the guys will make an incredible amount of money in just a few months and then get back to what they love- Alter Bridge

What is with everyone going "ALTER BRIDGE IS OVER OMG OMG OMG". I can believe they'll get back together after this tour. I don't care if it's for money; everything will be fine after this tour and Scott Stapp will go back to being in obscurity where he belongs.

Christ, open your minds and shut your mouths.

Thanks for posting this! With so much bad news being posted it's good to see some positivity!!!! Everyone wants to hate. yeah, I'd like to see them go triple DIAMOND, sell 35 millions records, right? exactly.

This is the BEST news I’ve ever heard…in my entire life. The one band that actually improved people’s lives by giving them a second Christ to look up to and give true hope that life can be worth living! Scott Stapp will be remembered as the songwriter of our generation, not to mention easily the best SHOW of our Millenia! Even his National Anthem soars skyscraper-height over Aretha’s inaugural rendition! I love Aretha, who doesn’t, but Scott dominates... and we should bestow upon him the honor and rock-god glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Officially,

Creed is full of greed. They're only in it for the money. What a frickin' shame cuz AB is/was an awesome band. Just listened to Blackbird today...killer stuff. I used to like Creed...but I will NOT buy tix for their renuion tour. I just hope and pray AB gets back together like they say they will. I saw them live and they smoked the stage. Mark was on fire. It's a damn shame he's back in Greed.
