LACUNA COIL's 'Shallow Life' Cracks U.S. Top 20 - Apr. 29, 2009
LACUNA COIL's new album, "Shallow Life", sold 21,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 16 on The Billboard 200 chart.

LACUNA COIL's previous CD, "Karmacode", opened with just under 34,000 copies back in April 2006 to land at No. 28. It has since sold more than 200,000 units in the U.S.

The band's 2002 album, "Comalies", has shifted more than 300,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Commented vocalist Cristina Scabbia: "Thank you, thank you and thank you all! After its first week in the stores, 'Shallow Life' entered The Billboard 200 chart at #16 and we are absolutely thrilled. Most of all, we couldn't be happier about the fact that you (our fans) have supported us and our work, once again. It's been a beautiful journey, together we have shared the same passions for ten years and this is another goal we have reached and are celebrating together with you all out there. Thank you for being part of the LACUNA COIL family and see you all on the road soon. Rock on!"

"Shallow Life" was released in the U.S. on April 21 via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded in September/October at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Don Gilmore, who has previously worked with LINKIN PARK, TRAPT, AVRIL LAVIGNE, GOOD CHARLOTTE, THE VERONICAS, PEARL JAM, TRUST COMPANY and DURAN DURAN.

I'm a big LC fan. I've seen them many times.

FOR ME... new album is hard to listen to. It feels like I'm listening to a club/pop dance cd. I've only listened to it 3 times since I got it the cd and I got it weeks before it came out!

It probably would have sold better if it wasn't a lame album... They ruined her voice with effects, the guitars seem to be held back, and it just doesn't sound like Lacuna Coil at all.

7/10 - I'm pretty disappointed.

The record industry has you all fooled (20k units worth of fooled).
T and A Metal is lame, empty and trite.
I for one wish this trend would curl up and die behind the shed !!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the album. The melodies, the diversity... I think you all should be aware that music HAS to evolve. I love their change, I actually think their musci on Comalies and Unleashed memories was sooooo conservative and kinda boring... thank God they changed!!!! Go Lacuna!

I agree, she could do better on her own with some real riff writers that just let her sing and write lyrics. Where's Ben Moody when you need him?

They sold 13,000 less copies and yet moved down 12 places in the chart... wow.
