REZIN/WINO Bassist JON BLANK Dead Of Suspected Drug Overdose

Jon Blank, bassist for REZIN and, more recently, Scott "Wino" Weinrich's ( ST. VITUS, THE OBSESSED, SPIRIT CARAVAN, THE HIDDEN HAND, SHRINEBUILDER) solo band, was found dead this past Saturday night (May 2). The cause of death has not been confirmed, but a drug overdose is suspected, according to an online post by Jon's sister Andrea. Blank recently played the Roadburn Festival in Holland with Wino. Jon's funeral will be held Tuesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. at the following address: King David Memorial Gardens 7482 Lee Hwy Falls Church, VA 22042 All are welcome and encouraged to come celebrate Jon's life. Wino solo band — which consisted of Jean Paul Gaster ( CLUTCH, THE BAKERTON GROUP) on drums, Jon Blank on bass, and, of course, Weinrich on guitar and vocals — made its live debut on February 7 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Everyone has their demons and Jon's seem to have got the better of him. Drugs are a shameful waste of talent and life...

What a waste...Got great gig playing with the legendary Wino & played on actual studio album that's avaible amazon.com...some people spend their entire life playing music in their mom's basement or paying to play at downright nasty bars...he got his chance & blew it...

R.I.P. Jon Blank! You were a killer bassist when I saw you perform with WINO on his debut concert with his new line up. Sad indeed.

Jon was one of the coolest guys i've ever met...he got my old band a gig at a place in Gaithersburg where we had NO one turn out (and those that did hated us)...he still gave us $100 to get on along...most places nowadays will tell you you owe them money wtf...
RIP dude....you'll be missed..

this really fucking sucks.jon was a really good kat and as far as drugs,yeah maybe,probably.i'm so tired of seeing really good people go and you know what my first instinct was when i heard the news?to get loaded,how shitty is that,i just don't know what to do anymore,i,like jon have people who love me and a decent life,except i can't get off dope.jon was cool and i know wino is gotta be pissed,he has had more demons than alot of people,so this just really,really,i don't know anymore.this sucks.rest bro,rest.

I was just up in Wichita KS. last night, meet some friends and we were talking about the upcoming CLUTCH/ WINO show that we all wanted to attend. now it looks like it might be on hold.
My condolences to the family and friends of Jon Blank. RIP

This is shitty news indeed.
Another talented musician meets an untimely death at his own hands (assuming that this is in fact related to an overdose).
And the cycle of self-destruction continues.
