ALICE COOPER, BARACK OBAMA To Appear At Arizona State University This Wednesday - May 11, 2009
Over the course of a legendary rock career that spans 40+ years, Alice Cooper has found himself on bills or shared appearances with some extraordinarily talented people. These include John Lennon, THE ROLLING STONES, LED ZEPPELIN, Grouch Marx, Jack Benny, Johnny Carson, Raquel Welch, Pelé, Salvador Dali, George Burns, Jimi Hendrix and many more.

That tradition of eclecticism continues on Wednesday, May 13, when he appears before an anticipated crowd of 63,000, including 9,000 Arizona State University graduates, at ASU commencement ceremonies at Sun Devil Stadium in Phoenix. Alice will perform the perennial start-of-summer anthem "School's Out", backed by RUNAWAY PHOENIX, the band of which his son Dash Cooper (ASU Class of '10) is part. Also appearing on the program is "top-billed" President Barack Obama who will deliver ASU's 2009 commencement address.

"Of all the people I've ever shared a stage with, Obama is the biggest rock star," said Alice. He went on to remark, "And I'd like to thank him, in advance, for changing the national anthem to 'School's Out'."

"School's Out" always seems to take on a life of its own just about every May and this year is no different. Last week, the song was featured as an "American Idol" group performance with guitar great Slash joining in. The song, which first came to light at the end of the 1972 school year, will be heard in the film "I Love You Beth Cooper" (no relation) directed by Chris Columbus and starring Hayden Panettier with companion soundtrack album to be released by ABKCO Records next month.

Aside from his ongoing role as the de facto harbinger of summer, Alice Cooper hosts, "Nights with Alice Cooper", heard over a network of more than one hundred affiliated stations for which Alice anchors 30 hours per week of original classic rock programming. Produced and distributed by the United Stations Radio Networks, "Nights with Alice Cooper" has 110 affiliates broadcasting a combination of weeknight and weekend programming. Alice's time slot reaches 1.1 million listeners (12+) each week, and his affiliates have a weekly reach of over 6 millions listeners.

Obama didn't "inherit" jack shit.

He proposed "surefire" solutions to problems and promised quick fixes, backed off when people started figuring out he was full of it and is now stuck in a rut, cause he has no clue what to do, and never did.

I thought all our problems would be over by now ya know. The sick would be healed, people's mortgage's would be all paid up, wars would end, enemies would become friends...none of that is the case.

Obama didn't inherit anything?

How about two intractible "wars" and an economy in freefall?

That is the absolute most inane statement I've ever heard. If that's what your "expert" take on the political situation is, then your opinion is beyond worthless.

And please link to where Obama ever said his proposals would be "quick fixes". As I remember, he's said over and over that these are major crises which would take time to resolve.

Sad that some people are too stupid to learn how to READ and see just how fucked up the country was left for Obama. He is doing really well with what he had been given, and having to fight The PART OF NO on EVERY issue is what will kill the Republicans for the next 20+ years in the elections....and ALICE ROCKS!!!

i think alice had it right when he was backing ron paul. one of the few politicians that i think actually cares about the people and not his own agendas.

that being said, obama definitely inherited several problems, just like every other president before him has inherited problems. these problems, though, are a reult of both parties f'n things up, not just bush (and i can't stand that fucker). neither side can put aside their differences, and we the people pay the price. our political system is one big joke, and the laughs on us.

COMMENT | I didn't blame Obama for all the issues going on

Bush didn't do much except inherit precedents of large government from CLINTON. He followed his model. Anyone forget ALL democrats are WAR MONGERS? Bush was a neocon. Besides - congress did all the dirty work by not READING what they were SIGNING

Obama uses his inheritance of wars etc to mess up and spend some more. The difference is Obama acts like a king. He thinks he can pass any fly by night legislation - most of it ...wait.. I think ALL of it violating the constitution.

Have fun blinding supporting Bush II under the guise of big O.

Let's see here..... the duly elected President of the United States of America is called a socialist and a fascist in the same thread. It's clear to me that very few people in this thread have the slightest fucking clue about American politics. And one who's not terribly clear on Canadian politics to boot. Running a minority government isn't exactly being 'powerful' and 'influential', though they are in a better place then they were a few years back.

That said, let's hear Obama belt out a verse or two of 'School's Out'. That'll be the shit-and-a-half. I'm quite happy with the new administration. Well, anything is an improvment over the last eight years of scorched-earth profits-and-power-above-all politics.
