MAYHEM Drummer On 'Beyond The Dark Horizon'; Audio Available - May 13, 2009
Drummer Hellhammer of Norwegian black metallers MAYHEM was a guest on the "Beyond The Dark Horizon" Internet radio show with DJ Metal Lord on Sunday, May 10. You can now download the program in two parts: Part#1, Part#2.

For more information, visit BeyondTheDarkHorizon.com.

As previously reported, MAYHEM was forced to cancel its previously announced shows in Mexico (May 1-3) "due to the recent outbreak of swine flu in Mexico." The band says, "Rest assured, we are already working on finding new dates so that we can get over there and spread OUR plague!"

MAYHEM recently announced the addition of French guitarist Silmaeth (ex-VORKREIST) to the group's touring lineup. He said in a statement, "It's a great honor for me to join such a legend. My experience with MAYHEM has been extremely positive so far. Within the band, we all have a very good feeling about this new lineup, as the songs have become more solid and intense now with the addition of a second guitar."

MAYHEM's current live formation is as follows:

Attila Csihar: Vocals
Necrobutcher (a.k.a. Jørn Stubberud): Bass
Hellhammer (a.k.a. Jan Axel Blomberg): Drums
Morfeus (a.k.a. Krister Dreyer): Guitar
Silmaeth: Guitar

COMMENT | Two Guitarists?!?

It speaks mountains about Blasphemer that they are going with two guitarists. I saw them in Glasgow a few months back. The sound was a bit muddy, but they were immense.

I truly hope that if they are to continue, they find someone with as much individuality and dark passion ( ;-P ) as Blasphemer. He was an abyssal inferno of black energy and while I am not such a pessimist as to think they can't do it without him, they _must_ have someone with those qualities. Onwards and downwards, into the regions of Hell where Satan dares not tread.

It's kind of strange that the interviewer only mentions Hellhammer's participation in black/extreme metal bands, but mentions nothing (and seems to know nothing) about his progressive bands.

What about Arcturus (which the interviewer calls Arcturnis... ok they played a song...), and what about Winds (a band he's been in for almost 10 years), plus Age of Silence (which HH himself briefly mentions and the interviewer asks nothing about as a follow-up), etc, etc...

Ok I guess it's an interview mainly about Mayhem. But even so, most of this stuff is things the black metal fans already know. They have heard it before. So why not ask about his more interesting things that perhaps aren't so much known or exposed?
