Former ICED EARTH/DEATH Drummer To Record 'Crushing' New Metal Album - May 14, 2009
Acclaimed heavy metal drummer Richard Christy (ICED EARTH, DEATH, LEASH LAW, CONTROL DENIED, BURNING INSIDE), who currently works for "The Howard Stern Show", has issued the following update:

"I'll be making an announcement soon about the metal album that I'm recording this summer. I've been playing guitar a ton in the last several years and for about the past two years I've been writing a lot of metal music which I'm really proud of and can't wait to get in the studio to record! I've been a metalhead since I was eight years old and I can't wait to get into the studio to pound on the drums and record some crushing new metal music!"

Among the musicians who are rumored to be appearing on Christy's new album — which will be released through the Metal Blade label — are vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and bassist Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS, DEATH, ICED EARTH).

Christy has played in many bands, including ICED EARTH, BURNING INSIDE, DEATH and CONTROL DENIED. Christy joined DEATH after meeting their leader Chuck Schuldiner in a bookstore while the band was looking for a new drummer after the departure of Gene Hoglan. Christy recorded three albums with DEATH (the critically-acclaimed "The Sound of Perseverance", released in 1998; "Live in L.A. (Death & Raw)", 2001; and "Live in Eindhoven", also 2001) and one album with CONTROL DENIED, "The Fragile Art of Existence", which came out in 1999.

A quote from his older wiki article

"Christy has also admitted to staging Friday night masturbation sessions in which he drinks wine or beer while simultaneously viewing pictures and videos on multiple screens."

One of the great metal drummers ever. I really hope this cd isn't weak. If he can leave the gay shit behind and just focus on the music then I will be stoked.

needs to be great in order to restore his credibility in the metal scene. With all of the goofy gay-tarded shit he has been doing since, it will have to be amazing.

FYI before BURNING INSIDE moved to Tampa and changed their name they were also known as PUBLIC ASSASSIN. i probley walked by him at a few shows up in Lawrence,KS. but i remember the band handing out demos @ the DEICIDE Legion tour stop around the bonfire. what a great show that was, but DEICIDE refused to play In Hell I burn (the only song not played that night off Legion)

Technically any of the wack pack would be better singers than Ripper... not that I have anything against Ripper, but his voice is not a new sensation at this point...
