CROWBAR Back Catalog To Be Reissued - May 20, 2009
Guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR, DOWN, KINGDOM OF SORROW) has issued the following update:

"Got a good bit of good news to announce. CROWBAR will be re-releasing the majority of the back catalog through Housecore Records [DOWN/ex-PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo's record label]. These releases will be the ONLY official re-releases that myself and the band have agreed to.

"There are countless unauthorized re-releases out there. These were never OK'ed by me and are basically screwing the band. Most of these will be released on vinyl for the first time. We will also be putting out a limited-edition box set as well as a new live record and a CD of new material. Please check TheHousecoreRecords.com for frequent updates. Also, CROWBAR and GOATWHORE will be playing a show Friday, May 29 at Grant Street in Lafayette, Louisiana."

Windstein was forced to miss much of KINGDOM OF SORROW's tour dates with GWAR late last year due to commitments with DOWN and a need to "tackle some serious issues and personal demons."

Metal Mind Productions re-released three CROWBAR albums — "Crowbar" (1993), "Time Heals Nothing" (1995) and "Live+1" EP (1995) — in Europe in April 2008. Each limited-edition digipack title (limited to 2,000 copies) was made available on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology. The "Time Heals Nothing" album also contains six bonus tracks — four audio and two video.

CROWBAR's video for the song "Slave No More" was included on the band's DVD, "Live: With Full Force", which came out in North America in January 2007. Filmed at the popular German open-air festival of the same name, "Live: With Full Force" was captured on CROWBAR's world tour supporting their 2005 release "Lifesblood for the Downtrodden". The live performance DVD also includes candid backstage footage plus the band's second (and previously unavailable) promotional video for "Lifesblood for the Downtrodden" album track "Slave No More".

This is Great News! Housecore is gonna give alot of the heavy hitter's from the NOLA scene a proper home. No more hunting to try to find these great gems. Can't wait to see this on vinyl and to see the Glenn Rambo (Soilent) stuff get released too! Release The Slugs demo too -

re-issuing an album is just a cash grab. regardless if it's an awesome band like crowbar, it still annoys me when bands do that.

"re-issuing an album is just a cash grab"

I don't get your logic. What if the albums are not available anymore? Should bands just fall into obscurity after their records become unavailable. Personally, I find it a positive thing to find my favourite bands' albums in a local record store, not just on ebay and second hand shops. It will also probably bring new fanbase...

Some of these titles are not easy to find some possibly are out of print. I would like to know if anything special is being done to these (Remastering, Bonus Tracks, etc.) as I do own most of their original albums. Let's face it their first three albums could use some serious remastering.

These albums have been reissued before with different artwork than the originals. But hey, if these albums are out of print currently, then they definelty deserve to be reissued. And if the albums were orignally reissued without consulting the band, then what the fuck! Thats horrible.

This article will confuse people. Kirk just finishes saying that ALL of the other remasters are ripping off the band, and then the article immediately mentions the Metal Mind "ripoff" releases.

Your "Cash grab" logic doesn't hold any water. It explains that they got screwed and if you knew anything at all about crowbar, it was, and is, fact that they got screwed out of a ton of their main sales when these albums came out originally. They made a majority of their living off relentless touring and merch sales. Hard working guys. I'm glad they get to re-issue these and maybe make some money back to live on when they're old. They deserve it for all the hard work. Thanks for kick ass influence and riffage Kirk!!!

for some odd reason i just can't get into this band, i bought the dvd With Full Force for 5.99$. maybe the live show might change things. if not then i will sell the dvd to the highest bidder.

why reissue, i doubt kirk needs the money. just leave it as is, for the collectors.

but I support everything my favorite bands put out. I'll definitely be buying the box set, probably all the post Odd Fellows albums too.

I'm 3 years studying Kirk's riffs on every release, unquestionably the heaviest.

I recommend supporting Housecore Records. Phil is the real.

It's amazing that people don't read the article and then post and complain about shit that could of been cleared up if they read the article in the first place.
