MARILYN MANSON Fan Who Shot Himself After Firing At Teacher Dies

According to the Associated Press, a coroner's investigator says the 15-year-old student at Larose-Cut Off Middle School in Louisiana who shot himself in the head on school grounds last week, moments after firing at a teacher who refused his order to praise Marilyn Manson, has died.
Mark Goldman, the chief investigator for the Lafourche Parish Coroner's office, says Justin Doucet died Saturday morning at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma.
Doucet left a suicide note in which he explained that he planned to kill others before taking his own life with a gun belonging to his father. Doucet walked into a seventh-grade English class shortly before 9:00 a.m., telling the teacher to say "Hail Marilyn Manson" before attempting to shoot her.
The items found by the authorities include the lyrics to the SLAYER song "Raining Blood" and a picture Doucet drew of himself. Dressed with camouflage pants and shoes and an AC/DC "Highway to Hell" shirt in the drawing, he gave himself a title: "The LCO Gunman."
"The writings suggest a very troubled person who is dealing with some anger issues who has a fascination with the antichrist, the end of the world, Nazism, Marliyn Manson, those sorts of things," said Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre. "And this desire to carry out a Columbine-like event."

who cares what this kid said before he shot these people. he is --- OBVIOUSLY --- f u c k i n g c r a z y. no matter what he said it would offer no insight into anything. Just like any male, I've spent plenty of time fantasizing about running a muck but I never have and never will because, no matter my situation, prison will only make it worse. and, hell is already full of assholes, no need to be stuck there with the same assholes that drove me to shoot myself.

Coincidental that he was a MM listener. He probably listens to dozens of other bands -- WTF does that prove? I've seen university teachers admitting to listen to MM's "Antichrist" album just cause it's cool. Just very normal teachers too.

...the media and society as a whole operate under the assumption that there is someone to blame. They NEED someone to point the finger at, and the media hands it to them on a silver platter. And it MUST be Manson. When the reality is, it's just a kid with a misfire in his brain. Simple as that.
It was Alice Cooper. Then it was Judas Preist. Then (and still) it's Manson. It's garbage.

okay so besides liking MM he had other more serious issues that were ignored. I'm amazed at how parents just let "jr" do whatever. There's no fuckin' way there weren't signs. I bet if you ask the people who knew him they'd all say, "Yeah, he was really fucked up." Well there's already been enough posts about this but it's time for people to be accountable.

if this kid's parents and teachers weren't aware of his problems, then some of the blame is on them! sure, the kid was messed up. people call him an idiot, or a waste and declare his death a victory - "one less (fill in insult) in the world". but let's remember, this was a kid. not an adult, but a kid. who was looking out for him if he was this fucked up? where were the parents when he was writing satanic messages on his school notebooks? where were the teachers when he was drawing suicidal pictures in art class?
it's fucking pathetic that no one out there thinks that maybe this kid who had a lot of problems might not be dead had someone cared enough to have been looking out for him!

....is that this kid is probably not an anomaly as far as sketching weirdo images on his notebook or writing angry shit in a journal. Of all the metalheads I went to school with, I'd say half of them probably did the doodling of bizarre death-related shit. I don't know about anything else they may have written privately, but on the surface, it's somewhat weird, but you can't condemn every kid that does that. 99% of them are a bit misguided yet completely normal teenagers. They'd all be in an institution or being interrogated by police, and that's not realistic.
"Blame the parents" they all cry! Jesus. Of course it's easy to say with hindsight that the parents should have seen something bad coming, but fuck, come on, people, do you really believe that any parent could ever fathom their child doing something like this? It's almost impossible to be objective about something like that when it's your own flesh and blood. Maybe even AFTER the fact. You always assume the best of your kids, regardless how they dress or carry themselves around. And you don't know what they may have tried to help the kid. Of course the media doesn't say THAT.
"one less weakling" is an extremely ignorant, however unforunately all-too-common comment when faced with this sort of occurance. The brain is an organ, and can malfunction just like a heart or liver or lungs. It's not always under your control. If someone did something like this out of pure malice, fine, judge him all you want (we'll never truly know). But my guess is this kid was highly depressed, possibly a sociopath, and needed to be on meds. And probably would have been fine with the right combination of meds and therapy.
It's the same as the ignorance on the other side of associating this behaviour with any genre of music. Of COURSE a kid who feels lost and isolated would identify with music that preaches it. You never hear of people killing themselves or others to an Elton John song. Maybe in a Tarantino movie, but that would be about it.
And no, just for the record, I don't claim to be a psychologist or an expert in the field of mental health. I've just done a lot of research on the subject as I've known many with such diseases.

You can't, really, now that he's dead. That's why I said "(we'll never truly know).". There is a difference. It can be determined with extensive psychoanalysis. Did this kid have an intent to kill a certain person stemming from a certain event that happened? Or did he just go nuts for no reason and target someone random? In layman's terms, that's the difference.
I'm not saying he should not have been locked up or just have his hand held and say "that's too bad you got pushed around as a kid, we forgive you", I'm just saying that saying someone is a wasted life is an ignorant statement, that's all. Mental illness is a disease, and that's a fact, whether people wish to believe that is up to them. Again, I'm not saying this kid WAS mentally ill. Maybe he WAS a fucking asshole. It was all conjecture to show another possible side, that is all.
However, in my mind, anyone that plans to take their own life is not an asshole, but mentally ill.

from what I understand, it wasn't his teacher. he was 15, and it was a grade 7 class. That tells me it was random and he was mentally ill. Unless he was held back 3 grades, which tells me something different altogether. But I think we're essentially on the same page on this one.

What if I told you that I have it on fairly good authority that the young man in question, Justin Doucet, had a developmental disability (meaning he was intellectually impaired). Would that change your opinions of his death? If he lacked the cognitive ability to make sound judgements, would this change your views of his death?

he was in 8th grade. its rather likely that this guy had previously had, or still had currently, the same teacher who was at the time teaching a 7th grade class. i guess we can only speculate at this point if he was truly insane or not. but the reality is that merely being picked on or depressed isnt enough. he needs to have no ability to determine right from wrong. i dont like people's attitude that assumes this guy was picked on or had a perfectly legitimate reason for doing what he did. chances are thats not the case. only like 1% or less of killers are actually insane. look it up.
