Management: METALLICA's French DVD Shoot Still On - May 26, 2009
A representative for METALLICA's management company, QPrime, has informed BLABBERMOUTH.NET that the DVD shoot of the band's July 7, 2009 concert in Nimes, France at Arènes de Nîmes will go ahead as previously announced. The resulting DVD, which will be available in France only, is tentatively due in October. According to the representative, it is still not 100 percent confirmed that METALLICA's three headlining concerts in Mexico City, Mexico — which are scheduled for June 4, June 6 and June 7 at Foro Sol — will be filmed or that there will even be a DVD release based on that footage.

METALLICA's digital "box set" called "The Complete Metallica", featuring the band's entire 163-track recorded catalog, was made available last month.

"The Complete Metallica" was released during a high-profile period for the San Francisco-based hard-rock heroes. On March 29, Activision released the highly anticipated video game Guitar Hero: Metallica, featuring 28 songs from the band's nearly 30-year career. In addition, METALLICA was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which honors legendary rock and roll performers, in a ceremony which took place in Cleveland on April 4.

METALLICA recently completed its first proper tour of the United States and Canada in four years in support of the platinum-selling "Death Magnetic", which debuted at No. 1 in September 2008 and won two Grammy Awards for "Best Metal Performance" (for the track "My Apocalypse") and "Best Recording Package."

If it is only being released in France I doubt the band will pay the extra cash for a blu ray release, hd cameras to film them, etc. I am sure that the vast percentage of French do not own a Blu Ray player yet as with the rest of the world except for Japan.

Also, some of Metallica's videos they post on the club and regular sites are supposedly done in HD. The video is very clear but the sound kind of sucks. We all know that a major release would have perfect audio tho. I'd absolutely buy a Metallica Blu-ray weather it be a brand new release or just a re-release of the already printed dvd's.
