BEHEMOTH: 'Evangelion' Track Listing Revealed - May 26, 2009
Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH will release their ninth full-length studio album, "Evangelion", on August 7 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records and August 11 in North America through Metal Blade. The CD was mixed at Miloco Studios in London, England by Colin Richardson, who has previously worked with MACHINE HEAD, SLIPKNOT, NAPALM DEATH and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, among many others.

"Evangelion" track listing:

01. Daimonos
02. Shemaforash
03. Ov Fire And The Void
04. Transmigrating Beyond Realms Ov Amenti
05. He Who Breeds Pestilence
06. The Seed Ov I
07. Alas, Lord Is Upon Me
08. Defiling Morality Ov Black God
09. Lucifer

The digipack edition will include a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes footage and expanded artwork.

Check out the cover artwork below.

Commented Nergal (guitar, vocals): "'Evangelion' combines a pure art form with a direct message. It was also important for us to ensure that the graphical presentation did justice to the record. Again, we have worked with Tomasz Danilowicz, who has created his best illustration yet for BEHEMOTH. The picture is of The Great Harlot of Babylon riding the seven-headed beast. Saints bow before her in worship whilst the tablets of the Ten Commandments lie broken at her feet. It represents our vision and the interpretation of the New Testament parable where the 'Whore of Babylon' is a symbol of rebellion and resistance against God. I am fascinated by stories whose source lies in the Bible and we have used biblical symbolism, coupled with my own experience and outlook, in our lyrics or on the covers of previous BEHEMOTH records. I love to juggle with meanings and play around with symbolism which is exactly what I have done in this case. The main character of our new cover is an archetype of disobedience, individualism, self-determination and a free, unfettered will — these are universal keywords which are typical and crucial in understanding the character of our works, life as a whole and the true nature of man."

Nergal previously stated about the new material, "I must confess that I'm way more excited about this record than I was for [2007's] 'The Apostasy'. It's probably the whole label situation that we had to deal back then, Inferno's injury that caused crazy deadlines that completely drained the energy out of my system… I even started treating that album as unwanted child. Weird, because from time perspective, it's a great one. This time though everything was planned much in advanced. I found time to live my life, get some energy back, get inspired and so on… When we met in October it was obvious that all of us were really hungry for making new music. It's definitely 100% BEHEMOTH. I would risk saying that we do have our own style but it's still improving, evolving in different directions every time we approach new project. Most of the songs are the really fast, technical and intense, at the same time there's a lot of diversity. There's even a very slow, massive song that's probably the most epic tracks in BEHEMOTH's history. Everything sounds more serious and…dangerous (I love that word, ha ha). There's probably more sinister vibe in our music this time too."

BEHEMOTH has been confirmed for the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, set to take place this summer. The band will perform on the Hot Topic stage alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, JOB FOR A COWBOY and WHITECHAPEL on over 25 dates.

I am looking forward to seeing them this summer, though I'm pretty damn sure that being outdoors won't feel quite right. I'd much rather see them in a club.

Trivium, Manson, Killswitch etc were offered a slot on that tour because they sell records and fill seats.

Don't kid yourself, Behemoth and every other goofy death metal illegible logo band PAID big money for their second stage slot in hopes of winning over some fans.

Unless they spend the next month learning how to write a groove and some melody (decipherable lyrics would help too), I can't see the latter happening for them.

and THIS is what the world is coming to ladies and gentlemen. This is the mindset of some very misguided people. Considering Trivium, Manson, and Killswitch are washed up acts and not serious musicians. Unless of course, they are still popular in high school..

And Behemoth? Masters, masters, and geniuses at their craft. Illegible logo? You must surely need glasses then. Behemoth have more intensity then all those kiddy pop acts you mentioned. especially Manson, he is FINISHED. It ain't the 90's anymore, he's not shocking anyone.

But why bother? Kiddies like you would never understand this. Shoo along now, and just TRY to yell out Behemoth sucks at this festival. I guarantee you 100% there will be a lot of punches coming your way.

I guess one can't possibly be a 'serious musician' or 'real metal' unless you wear ridiculous corpse paint, long leather trench coats and play as fast and noisy as possible without regard to songwriting, dynamics or hooks.

By this logic; Sabbath, Maiden, Pantera and Priest are fake metal who aren't serious musicians.

Whatever. Behemoth still blows.

of why some people should not be allowed near technology.

Nowhere did I state that a musician has to wear corpse-paint, dress up, do whatever. Those are your words because it's convenient for you. I am not attacking bands that write different style of songs, or hooks. And I happen to love Sabbath, Maiden, and especially Judas Priest.

So you're logic is wrong and irrelevant, because I made no such statements. I simply wrote that those other 3 bands you mentioned where terrible hot topic posuer milking machines. Bland, boring, washed up.

Manson could never write a song as amazing as "At the Left Hand ov God" or "Sculpting the Throne ov Set"

So you are wrong, and I suggest leaving before you make a bigger ass out of yourself.

Great cover and titles. I'm skipping Mayhem fest, too much crap music, but I'm catching Behemoth on June 30th in Toronto for a one-time gig with Wolven Ancestry!!! \m/
