STRYDEGOR Guitarist Killed In Car Crash - May 28, 2009

Slava Giebel (pictured below), the 20-year-old guitarist for the German Viking metal band STRYDEGOR, was killed in a car accident the night of May 23.

The surviving members of the group write in a statement, "It is not easy to us to put our feelings into words. The most important thing is that we Slava never be forgotten and we will carry on with the band.

"Thanks, Slava, for all of the wonderful times we had together at concerts, parties, rehearsals, and for all the conversations we had. Thanks for all the shit that we experienced together.

"We wish Slava's family much strength in this difficult situation and will be there for them."

STRYDEGOR's debut album, "Back On Ancient Traces", is scheduled for release on June 5 via CCP Records.

	Glad to know the band will continue. RIP Slava, our metal comrade! Viking metal is not in great supply, or maybe I just don't know too many bands. I've heard these guys possess greatness. Here's to hoping this tragedy does not bring forth their early demise. \m/
