MARILYN MANSON's 'The High End Of Low' On Track To Sell 50K-55K First Week - May 28, 2009
According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, the new album from MARILYN MANSON, entitled "The High End Of Low", is on track to sell between 50,000 and 55,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

MARILYN MANSON's previous album, "Eat Me, Drink Me", opened with 88,000 units to debut at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart. This marked a significant drop from the 118,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The Golden Age Of Grotesque", which landed at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart back in May 2003.

"The High End Of Low" is Manson's first album with longtime bassist Twiggy Ramirez since 2000's "Holy Wood".

The official track listing for "The High End Of Low" is as follows:

01. Devour
02. Pretty As A Swastika
03. Leave A Scar
04. Four Rusted Horses
05. Arma-Goddamn-Motherfuckin'-Geddon
06. Blank And White
07. Running To The Edge Of The World
08. I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies
09. WOW
10. Wight Spider
11. Unkillable Monster
12. We're From America
13. I Have To Look Up Just To See Hell
14. Into The Fire
15. 15

Manson told England's Kerrang! magazine about the new effort, "This is not a record that we would leave black and self-titled and mature. This is the experienced record. This album is the 12th-grade guy that has VD and did cocaine in high school, who has been arrested once and the ninth-grade girl wants to fuck him."

Produced by Manson, Vrenna and Twiggy, "The High End Of Low" was recorded in Manson's Hollywood Hills studio and also features the track "I Want to Kill You Like They Do In The Movies". Manson says of the new album, "I think my life definitely ended and began. The record sounds very final, but it's almost optimistic — though that feels like a strange word to use. It's a phoenix from the fire and a redemption resurrection."

The "censored" version of the new "Arma-Goddamn-Motherfuckin'-Geddon" video can be viewed below. The clip was shot with director Delaney Bishop, a filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles. He has directed music videos for JURASSIC 5, CUT CHEMIST and ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK. Delaney has also worked on a twenty-minute short entitled "The Death of Salvador Dali" featuring Manson's ex-wife Dita Von Teese, a project which broke new ground in new media, as the film was made available for download through iTunes.

It's sad that Manson is still screaming "let me terrify you, world!"

He's about as relevant as Dick Van Dyke.

Great comment, but at least Dick Van Dyke did a lot for film in the 60s. He has always been decent. Manson, on the other hand, is complete crap.

I actually like the new record. It's too bad that people expect an exact repeat of Anti Christ Superstar & Mechanical Animals. He's not the same dude he was back then, and his music will change. I can't wait to see these songs live this summer

No shit. I thought in this day and age people would listen to shit before they bought poop.

I thought this new album was poop as opposed to "THE" poop.

5th rate Alice Cooper, King Diamond, and Kiss rip-off. Only Cooper and Diamond usually had grade A musicians.

I guess Manson sucking dick on stage may have been a first, what do I know...

This guy does new wave and goth of the 80's mixed in with Industrial effects/rhythms. He sticks to a pattern. If you like it fine.

Personally, I'll buy buy a Depeche Mode record before anything by Manson. I picture wannabe club kids with eyeliner and sad goth clothes listening to this full blast in a real dark room. Let them enjoy!

It's gonna take a few listens to decide on it. Some good songs, but we'll see.

Manson is a brand at this point, I'm not so sure that he is taking this "making music" business so seriously now.

I personally think that the new record is decent, hes got some good songs on it and a lot better than Eat Me, Drink Me. It may not be his most amazing album to date but its definately mature and a 4 star rating from me.

His lyrics are as if a 14 year old boy is writing them, and that 14 year old boy thinks he is being mature and intellectual and introspective. These lyrics are just absolute shit.

I think he ran out of ways to be crazy and controversial so now he's trying to make music that "most people probably wont understand."

This guy needs a therapist so he can stop writing music like a kid and start writing actual music.

And that music video is a shitty rehash of all of his other music videos. I think he sits in his room and drinks robotussen all day long, trying to find new and creative ways to write music.

The lot of you bad mouthing Manson were probably getting a hard on back in the late 90's while listening to ACSS because it made you feel so evil. Wearing you eye-liner and one theatrical contact lens in your left eye bouncing up and down in front of your mirrors to The Beautiful People making the sign of the beast, because it made you feel so evil.

Now, since MM has made you stop feeling so evvvvvil and is taking on personal issues in his life through songs, you've abandoned your goth make-up and lightening bolt key chains and traded them in for the next fad that makes you look just as blind and pitiful as before.

Now you want to bash him because he no longer suits a need in your life, because he isn't talking about sodomy, reflecting gods, or beautiful people.

And the one thing you were against is exactly what you have become.

Congratulations, enjoy your meal.

I saw Manson for the first time on his own headlining show and it was very good. The music isn't nearly as in your face as his stuff was in the 90's, but then again, haven't we all kinda changed since then? Mechanical Animals came out the same year I graduated high school, and I am certainly not the same person that I was 11 years ago.

The one thing I can say is that he did make himself relevant with his act back then, and made you look at things through a darker perspective, pre 9-11. I dont think his music is the greatest, but we all need a change of pace to keep ourselves fresh. If the same bands put out the same cd, how talented can one really be?
