SLAYER Frontman's Sister Dies Of Cancer

Anamaria Araya, the older sister of SLAYER bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, died on June 1 after a 13-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 55 years old. Says her daughter Andrea: "First of all, I would like to say thank you for your continued support and comforting words. I appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers and helping hands. "At this moment I would like to extend an invitation to join my family and I in the celebration of my mom's life. I've found peace in knowing she is resting on a comfortable cloud where she won't feel any more pain and breathing comes without tubes. "It'd be nice to share each other's company at any moment you are able to attend." I know first hand what cancer means.
I hope Tom and his brother can work through it by doing what they do best and probably saved them more than once in their lives, like music always saves musicians.

When your sister/mother/brother etc dies, I'll make sure that first first thing I say to offer condolences is something along the lines of:
"Alan was always great when he stocked the supermarket shelves in the morning. But then his stank out the toilet on his lunch break and customers complained."

"Most" of you have shown some class is all I'll say. You know who you are. With that said, I hope God, Family, Friends, and whatever else they believe in allow them to get through this tough time.
Personally, cancer has hit home with a close family friend in the last 8 weeks and after seeing what it does, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. God Bless the Araya Family. \m/

It’s officially my most feared variable for existence. Especially in the context of family or friends. And my thoughts and wishes for it’s defeat go-out to ANYONE touched by cancer. It’s how we lost one of our greatest demi-gods in metal (Chuck Schuldiner) and it’s how we’ll all (ALL OF US) one day loose someone we know and love

Thank you for your thoughts and well wishes. I have never bothered to register with any website or read comments posted by others when it comes to Tom or Slayer (because they're awesome regardless) but I was overwhelmed with all the comments posted about my sister. Good and bad, you took the time to think of her and that all that matters. Ana was an avid reader of the Blabbermouth website. Thanks again.
