MARILYN MANSON's 'Disturbing' BBC Interview; Audio Available

Ian Youngs of BBC News reports: I met Marilyn Manson less than two minutes ago. I am supposed to be interviewing the dark prince of rock, the grotesque goth who, as legend has it, is vampire, zombie and demon rolled into one. And it's already the strangest interview ever. I expected him to be a bit weird - but not like this. I also expected the shock rocker to be highly articulate. From other interviews I've watched, I know he can be the intelligent voice of a troubled generation. But today, it's clear that Marilyn Manson is just troubled. He is in a dingy radio studio at the BBC's Maida Vale complex, where he has just finished a shambolic radio session. Our interview is four hours late. Read more from BBC News. Although personally not particularly interested in Manson, both his music or his persona... The guy who conducted this interview and wrote the article is a complete dick.
Regardless of what the dude is on or if hes putting on a character etc etc, the interviewer has the nuts to call him "sad" despite Manson giving him an interview that will quite likely sell very well.
Manson didnt even have to give the sorry motherfucker a damn interview but he did anyway so be fucking grateful you sorry excuse for a journalist.

This shit is getting old. 2 other actors turned musicians pull this same kinda shit. Honestly the interview is given so people who find you interesting might get some insight into someone they actually like and to promote what you are selling. The interviewers questions weren't typical trash and maybe that is what is the eye opener. There is no one to shock anymore, you arent some kinda of demon anti-christ bullshit, nothing sacred anymore and it is necessary to have substance. Apparently he was either cracked out or want this kind of report as bad media might give em more sales instead of a intelligent interview. I think his new CD is the usual "I am American and flithy blah blah" so he is taking on this image, resorting to old tricks like he did in the start. I recall when him and twiggy had a interview, I think with Ricky Rackmen where twigs acted "Strange" (sry cant use the word I want or I get ban) and fucked with a lunchbox.
Maybe if he pissed in a cup and drank it during the interview while giving intelligent answers would have a interesting shock value although I think MSI have piss drinking cornered.

That was a funny interview. Manson isn't troubled just because he gave an interview without giving a fuck of what he was talking about, there doesnt mean there is something wrong with him.

Brian Warner is about as shocking and scary as an ice cream cone. Robert Smith from the Cure is more shocking and scary than the guy who has ripped off Alice Cooper, Kiss and David Bowie.

BTW the new album doesn't grow fast on me. I like the anthems but I listened to Mechanical Animal and it has so much good stuff on that one...

I truly laughed out loud listening to this.
MM is in the clouds even when he's clean which isn't that often I imagine.
Yes its a sad interview but I kinda like it . Anything that makes those pompous BBC types feel uncomfortable makes a change and self obsessed rock stars imploding is the best kind of entertainment there is.
Like two fish in the same barrel.
I hate his music though .

He is obviously high off his rocker. That was the stupidest most unprofessional waste of time of an interview ever. There's no smear campaign by the BBC happening. If I was the interviewer I either would have stopped the interview way earlier or started just plain fucking with his head.
That interview was Manson's fault entirely and it WAS sad and disturbing. Manson is finally really becoming the person he has pretended to be for the past 20 years. The quality of the album also reflects this fact.

I'm in the middle of reading his bio and half way through it I have a better understanding and a new view on Manson. He talks about some pretty fucked up things from his life, which would explain a lot.
As far as his music goes, I'm a fan. Not a huge fan, but I'll pick up his albums when he releases a new one. His last two have been so so. I really love Holy Wood. I think that's a great album.

I'd think a music reporter could recognize when a rock star is partied out and just go with the flow but this bbc guy is so uptight. he's describing drama and sadness when really it's just that he's no match for manson's eccentric sense of humor, even when he's totally wasted and at his corniest. he's not 'troubled', he's drunk!

Heh-heh, yeah, alright. I just thought it was a fucking annoying interview. And Marilyn Manson hasn't been worth a shit since Mechanical Animals.
If he was tripping, good for him. After hearing the latest CD I'm convinced he should lay off the halucinagenics and try some good blow. His music is suffering from something.
I've written him off. He means nothing. The new 1349 and Anaal Nathrakt (How the fuck do you pronounce that anyway?) absolutely crush.
Marilyn Manson's latest is the biggest disappointment of the year. He's more concerned with going on radio shows and acting like some fruity teenager than making good music.

As much as I can't stand this pseudo-satanist fool he was just being silly in that interview.
I've heard much worse, "disturbing"? Give me a break. What happened to the world? I've heard interviews from the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, The New York Dolls, hell even from the Clash who were 100 times more "disturbing" than this one. They were also a lot funnier, that was merely slightly boring and not shocking at all.

When has Manson not been on drugs read his book he was on everything you could think of most of the time if not all the time during his prime years and there are tons of stories about it. The fact that Manson being fucked up would shock anyone is beyond me.

yeah good point, I just think it was very low of the journalist to shit all over Manson when he is clearly taking the piss, but what exactly did he say "bad" in your eyes?
Was it really neccessary to attack him as he did when all Manson did was take a few drugs and trip (if he even did), such a typical journalist to leave the hard hitting statements until AFTER the interview is conducted...

why is everyone so uptight i thought this interview was hilarious, his slow interrupted ways of answering the questions just reminds me of how you talk when your baked, drunk or just tripping balls. Maybe not the best idea to do an interview when your fucked but it was still pretty entertaining to say the least.
