MASTODON: 'Oblivion' Video Trailer Available - June 8, 2009
"Oblivion", the new video from Atlanta-based progressive metallers MASTODON, will make its online debut tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9) on MySpace. A trailer for the clip can be viewed below.

MASTODON has launched a "Crack The Skye" tour page featuring pictures, videos, setlists and fan commentary for each show on the band's current trek.

MASTODON last month released two versions of the band's new album, "Crack The Skye", on vinyl. The first is a standard high-quality vinyl issue with beautiful full-size album artwork. There is also a special deluxe edition mastered and pressed on two discs at 45 rpm for maximum audiophile fidelity housed in a gatefold sleeve available in a very limited edition, one-time-only pressing. This edition also includes the complete album on CD.

"Crack The Skye" sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MASTODON's 2006 CD, "Blood Mountain", came in with just over 24,000 units — significantly more than the 8,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, 2004's "Leviathan" — which put it at No. 32.

This was a great album they keep getting better and better, I saw them on May 1st and they played the whole album live, not many bands do that and to me that makes it look like the don't have faith in the product, i can;t wait for new stuff while I digest the current album.

The album kills. The new video looks to be pretty out there and cool. The quick clip of Brann fading between being invisible, like fading in and out of dimmensions, is a slick effect, and the floating-in-space clips look almost real. Mastodon rules. I want to see them do the video for "The Last Baron."

Don't see too many space videos like this. Should be interesting! ... Last one I remember watching was for the song 'Ashes to the Stars' by Tarot. But it didn't feature all the members in space and outside a ship and what not.

MOST IMPORTANT, HARD ROCKING, TRIPPY, BAND AROUND TODAY. Listening to this CD is like taking acid and running through a gothic Disneyworld. Defintely good music to "zone out" to during the work day.
