THE BLACK CROWES To Release New CD, Give Away Free Second Album - June 9, 2009
THE BLACK CROWES will release their new studio CD, "Before the Frost..." , on September 1, 2009. A second album, titled "…Until The Freeze", will be given away for free exclusively through a unique download code which is included in "Before The Frost…" as a "thank you" to their fans for two decades of continued support.

"Before the Frost..." and its corresponding free album, "…Until The Freeze", were recorded over a series of five nights at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York. Although both are studio albums, all the new material was performed and recorded in front of an intimate audience of the band's fans, making them a part of THE BLACK CROWES musical history.

The innovative technique of inviting fans into the studio to become part of the process during recording is a rare experience.

"Before the Frost..." features eleven new and previously unreleased BLACK CROWES songs, including "Good Morning Captain", "I Ain't Hiding", "Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love)", and other original songs that will serve to spotlight the bands ability to make emotional connections through their music. The free album "…Until The Freeze" is a nine-song collection featuring eight new original BLACK CROWES songs plus a cover version of the STEPHEN STILLS classic "So Many Times".

A limited-edition vinyl release of "Before The Frost…Until The Freeze", featuring all 20 tracks, will also be available on September 1, 2009.

Chris Robinson conceived the concept of "Before the Frost...Until The Freeze". "I think we fulfilled a musical commitment to continue on the golden road of artistic independence," he said. "Approaching 20 years into our careers, we still are ambitious enough to push ourselves to create something unique that we have never done before."

Critical acclaim and popular success has seen THE BLACK CROWES sell over 20 million albums worldwide. As they approach their upcoming 20th anniversary of the release of one of rock's most influential records, "Shake Your Money Maker", which produced such hits as "Jealous Again", "She Talks To Angels" and "Hard to Handle", they are time and again hailed as one of rock and roll's best live acts.

THE BLACK CROWES are: Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitar, vocals), Steve Gorman (drums), Sven Pipien (bass), Adam MacDougall (keyboards) and Luther Dickinson (guitar).

That's pretty cool... both the free album and the fans in the studio. I'd love to watch one of my favorite bands record an album.

....to get people to buy their music. By giving back to the fans. Coldplay gives away a physical live album to everyone on their tour, also available for free download on their site (can you imagine the cost of giving out 12,000+ cd's a night???), Incubus is giving away a code to unlock tonnes of shyte from their site if you buy a physical copy of their greatest hits coming out next week..........the exception is Billy Pumpkin coming up with that rip off of an idea to get fans to pay $40 just to get album updates. Stupid.

In the end, I truely believe all this stealing music thing, while killing the industry for some time, will have a balancing effect. It causes the industry and bands to give their fans more bang for their buck, as long as you buy the album. I know I've been buying more music lately.

And I will defnitely be buying this BC disc. By the way, if you get the chance to see them live, light up a spliff and check em out.

ppppppffffffffffffffffftttttttttttt!

Saw these guys seven times, last year. Only a handfull of songs were played more than one time,in all those shows. Every set, every night, was different. Not many bands do that. I'm talking to you, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Going to see the two Hampton Beach gigs next week. Hopefully they'll play some of that new stuff. I think even most metalheads would enjoy a Crowes gig. Go see em!!

Only thing that would make this better is Marc Ford on guitar, although Luther can definitley hang.

To Blabbermouth for covering the Crowes....Some metal fans also like other music....Rip magazine used to cover other thing and thats what made them such a goo magazine

Love metal, but the Crowes rule I have seen them over thirty times never the same show.

Totally off topic but I got to say I just interviewed Rob Halford of Preist and as nice as a guy as he is it made me ashamed the way many metal heads acted when he came out.

If you are a "metal only" person cool, but the attitude of people who like other stuff is tired and omly hurts the movment as a whole.

I know people are always bashing on "Non-Metal" bands being featured on this website, but where does it say that this is a metal only site? I have never seen anything like that. although I could just be missing it.
