CHICKENFOOT's Debut Cracks U.S. Top 10 - June 10, 2009
The self-titled debut album from CHICKENFOOT — the new rock supergroup comprised of drummer Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), bassist Michael Anthony (ex-VAN HALEN), guitarist Joe Satriani and vocalist Sammy Hagar (ex-VAN HALEN) — sold 49,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Chickenfoot" track listing:

01. Avenida Revolution
02. Soap on a Rope
03. Sexy Little Thing
04. Oh Yeah
05. Runnin' Out
06. Get It Up
07. Down the Drain
08. My Kinda Girl
09. Learning to Fall
10. Turnin' Left
11. Future in the Past

30-second audio clips of all the tracks that appear on the CD are available for streaming at the web site of the Swiss multimedia shop CeDe.

As previously reported, the vinyl version of "Chickenfoot" includes a bonus track entitled "Bitten By The Wolf".

"Chickenfoot" is packaged in heat-sensitive artwork, which means when you put your hand on the CD inlay, photos of the band members are revealed behind the CHICKENFOOT band logo.

CHICKENFOOT will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Wednesday, June 17 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with CHICKENFOOT by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625).

Their debut is pretty good, not the best thing I ever heard Sammy do as he states it is, but not a dud either. This band needs to tour a little bit, get the creative juice flowing and get back in the studio next year to see what happens, and that album wil blow this one away.

I will pull for this just due to the fact there is nothing remotely rock out there now & Michael Anthony deserves a little good fortune after his treatment in VH....they seem to be having some fun, and from a fan's standpoint seem like decent guys that appreciate their fans.

on the other hand, as mentioned, musically they sort of slapped this together. There is far too much credit being given to this band for the fact they are playing rock. Joe watered himself down. Sam is typical Sam...oh yeah has some ok moments on guitar, but the chorus is down right lame, uncretive, like it was done right in the studio & they never went back & made it better...Soap on a Rope sounds like a one off jam....their creative peaks are past so I'll cut them some slack, its not terrible, but I'd expect more from such a talented group. I won't say who's dragging this down.

Indeed. Without question.

I saw them in San Francisco before the album came out, and I really wanted to like them, but, simply put, they were downright boring. There were a couple of songs that weren't too bad, but for the most part, their material is drab and uninspired.

It was interesting, too, to note that Hagar, Anthony, and Smith had great chemistry (obviously Sammy and Mike do), but Satriani seemed COMPLETELY out of place.

Especially after they tour together, that is when Sammy Hagar gets creative with his lyrics. Bet it go #1.

A lot of ass kissing going on with these guys. I love a lot of Satch records but this effort is shallow and pedantic at best. Serious disappointment.

If this was a major label debut from a band that wasn't already famous I don't think half of the people currently singing it's praises would still be doing so.

It's funny to hear people bitch about no good new music but then they support this wholeheartedly. I don't get it.

couldn't agree more. If it were killer, I'd be happy for them, I'm not out to knock Sammy & Co. I find people are using the excuse that there is no good rock now to say "this is great cuz its rock"....or "hey, its straight up melodic hard rock"...but so was Ac/DC, Zep, GnR, early Asmith & Early VH and so on. That was good melodic hard rock. This is less than run of the mill...OH YEAH. That chorus & sentiment says it all. Typical SAmmy bad C*ck rock lyrics. If you're going to go that route, rip it up GOOD! Otherwise you come off so limp.

IF this "Rocks" & is great rock n roll, I guess LoverBoy & .38 Special is too. Or Sammy songs like "your love is driving me crazy" & "I've Done Everything For You" Or "I'll fall in love again". Those bands & songs set out to DESTROY rock! Nightranger, bottom of the barrell...or how about his later offerings, "MAS Tequila". If that is what gets you excited, I guess CF might then. I find it a waste of such good talent as Satch(in his first rock band role), MA & Chad. But its typical of what Sam has been offering up since...forever....

I say it everytime & his big fans always take exception, but had he not gotten that dream gig in VH, he'd be a footnote in 80's rock, with Billy Squire & Rick Springfield, his contemporaries. REO. The R&R HOF wouldn't have been on his resume.(yes the R&R HOF is a joke, I know).

why #1 do you take it so personal? Why can't I, a person that is thinking "hmm, this might be cool, this CF", then listen & have an opinion that is less than yours...why can't I make a post on that with you calling it being a "hater"...I am not a hater. I even stated I like Satch's playing, love the Chili Peps, have interest in MA from his VH Past, and some Sammy VH is ok....but I DO feel Sammy is dragging this down. He's a chief songwriter in CF, at the the lyricist, melody man.

#2, WHY Does it have to come back to being a DLR LOVER? I too call DLR out. yes, I like DLR VH, but also called Dave out for some of his silly solo career shit, and also called David less than up to par on the last VH tour. He's done in my opinion, so I call a spade a spade....JoshtoRock, you'd love Sammy NO matter what Sh*t he passed on to you.

I also mentioned Sammy seems like a really cool guy. I DO think he has a lot more vocally & energically in 2009 than DLR, so I can be fair...but look at his past. Its quite checked...do you really think "your love is driving me crazy" and "Mas Tequila", "Ive done everything for you"(which he wrote for Rick Springfield, nuff said) rock? really? That's what sam was offering in his PRIME! telling..

I'm not saying you should dislike this CF. But damn, I find it run of the mill. The majority of these songs are throw aways, jams, quick fixes. Sounds like NO time was put into lyrics, but that again is typical of Sammy. OH YEAH! Rubbish. The Producer of Joe should have said "sam, come on, can you give us something a little more meaty? less Sophmoric"...and no, it doesn't have to be Rush lyrics or about the war, keep it simple, but lets get beyond "we'll get higher & higher , cuz that baby is what DREAMS are made of" WEEEEEE. Ruuuubbish Joshtorock....stop labeling anyone with an opposing view a hater. IF you want everyone to LOVE CF's every song, go to a CF support group. Hold hands & listen to "Heavy Metal".

We are fans of Van Halen and love all versions of Van Halen including the current, but I'll tell you my favorite version was Van Hagar, and I really dig this Chickenfoot, so leave them alone and lets listen to some really rocking tunes for once and they seem to be enjoying the positive spotlight, so cut out the negative stuff and look for the positive stuff, and quit denying that your not negative when you are.

ok, Sammy & CF rule, but I don't like this music. What's point of saying "I"m check this out cuz I was interested...my ears say I don't like it...but I'm supposed to be nice so..."Sammy & CF rule"...come on, is every critique that isn't all Pro CF, negative? I get more negative cuz people say "you're Jealous, you're a hater"...Jealous of WHAT? Cuz Sammy is rich? or in a Band? Then why am I not jealous of the albums & bands I like, that make a ton of money.

Give me a break too about loving everything. You aren't ever critical of any band? When you argued with your Husband that Jame Hetfield looks like the Cowardly lion & sings like him too, does he say "you're just jealous"....of WHAT?...Jealous that Sammy wrote "I've done everything for you" for Ricky Springfield...I was more annoyed he watered down EVH in 1986.

I wouldn't go and post about Metallica cuz I don't have any interest in them. But this band I did, because of the players, I was interested in the outcome. I personally don't think it was even close to their best....so why is it HATING if we say that "its generic & disappointing". It is to most....you can respond "I think it great"...I don't say to you "DLR HATER". What does DLR have ANYTHING To do with Sammy. I mention it only cuz all the Sammy fans do, want to make the VH DLR/Sam comparison? you like what you like, that's fine.

There are bands you can take or leave. There are bands that may have been your favorites & when they sell out or something, you have a strong opinion, cuz they aren't "take it or leave it" band in your life.

I'm not sure what it is about Hagar that makes so many people love and hate him. I find it even more amazing a few people take so much time to enter a website to post a gazillion negative post about him and CF. This is a great CD. It is not better than any Van Hagar CD but different from any Van Hagar. I like the bass/drums/backing vocals on CF than any VH. Satch and Ed play similar yet distinctly different. Joe completely delivers on CF. No complaints. Almost sounds like Ed but not. I like Sam's voice on CF; which is same for VH. It will be interesting to see how history remembers CF. I don't think it will matter; as we age the music industry has changed.
