HIM To Enter Studio In August; New Album Title Announced - June 10, 2009
Finnish "love metallers" HIM have set "Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in February 2010 via Warner Bros. Records worldwide. The CD will be recorded in August at a Los Angeles studio with producer Matt Squire, who has previously worked with TAKING BACK SUNDAY, THE USED, PANIC AT THE DISCO, BOYS LIKE GIRLS and THRICE, among others.

The news of HIM's recording plans was first revealed by the band's vocalist, Ville Valo, during a June 9, 2009 interview with the Renegade Radio Network. That chat is now available for streaming in two parts below.

HIM's last studio album, "Venus Doom", sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. Its predecessor, "Dark Light", has shifted 580,000 units in the U.S. to date.

HIM's CD/DVD set, "Digital Versatile Doom: Live at the Orpheum Theatre", was released in April 2008. The live portion of the DVD was recorded/filmed at the band's November 14-15, 2007 concerts at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. "Digital Versatile Doom" also features a second disc, with the full live performance from The Orpheum Theater and a 16-page booklet of original art and images.

Gotta disagree with sonecoldmetal, this band gets worse with every release, and last time I saw them they were awful even the die hard fans said they weren't all that great.

I like this band but Venus Doom I thought was weak and when I saw them on that tour i was disappointed with the show but when I heard later on that Ville had some problems I wasn't suprise, But I do look forward to a new album.

Venus Doom was agreed on point that is was weak.. i liked the ones before even Dark Light.. but we shall see if the new album will be better since an "emo" producer is on the boards.. wish they would go back to the Highlight To Love Metal Days \m/

had a few good tracks, mainly the first few, then went to shit. Razorblade and highlights are classics. Lovesongs was nice and heavy. Love metal was really cool but in my opinion had 3 or so weak tracks. Venus doom was a change with a more doom approach but a decent effort. Still i think it will be hard for this band to make something as classic as those earlier 4 albums. I hope they do. They have made some great music.

I saw HIM live last year at Rock am Ring, I forgot probably because I was drunk and they didn't leave a lasting iimpression in my mind.

other than having to get past the sordid and inappropriate hormonal laughter of the fangirl giving the interview i'd say ville did a nice job giving what little information there was to be given at this early time about the pending new album. he's said all there is to know at press time. he's not going to say much more. that interview was weak and annoying. i'm just wondering if it was as obvious to anyone else who listened that he was aggravated with the giggling and wished he'd had stayed watching twin peaks rather than answering the repetitive questions of the host? she didn't pay much attention to him. it was more about "look who i'm interviewing everyone" than getting the proper info. it was evident in her lack of being prepared. absolute thumbs down. all in all, out of a bogus shy of 20 minute interview we get a working title, a new producer's name a tentative release date, and the same info we got in february about the sound they're going for. not much work done for 20 minutes.
boo.
