CHEVELLE To Release New Album In September
- June 10, 2009
The Pulse of Radio reports that CHEVELLE has set September 8 as the release date for its fifth studio album, titled "Sci-Fi Crimes", according to HardDrive Radio. A first single called "Jars", which the band has been playing on recent live dates, will head to rock radio stations around June 23. Although there's been rumors that this is the heaviest CHEVELLE album yet, drummer Sam Loeffler told The Pulse of Radio he has a different view. "I think that production-wise it's different in that we used a lot more vintage amplifiers and things like that," he said. "I don't know that it's really a heavier record than any of our others. I actually think it's probably the opposite. But it's certainly still driving, melodic, hard rock music."
In addition to "Jars", CHEVELLE has played "Letter From A Thief" and "Sleep Apnea" on some recent dates.
The new disc will follow up 2007's "Vena Sera".
The band is back home in Chicago now, but will get back out this summer on a tour with STAIND, beginning July 1 in Peoria.

Let's hope it's better than Vena Sera. That was a huge disappointment.

Nothing like some girlish singing to go along with metal on the radio

Say what you want about Chevelle, I personally dig them a lot. I'm not some crazed fan or anything, I couldn't even tell you the names of any of the members, but I think the singer has a great voice and some of their early stuff (eg. Family System) had some killer riffs and was great. One of the only bands to survive the whole nu-metal scene thing too, so kudos to them. Agree with the poster above, Vena Sera was average, but their previous efforts have been good!

is the only Chevelle release I care for as it is a lot heavier than their other albums and has a lot better vocals.

Vena Sera was a huge disappointment??? What are you on crack?? Obviously you don't like Chevelle and you shouldn't even be commenting on this!!! Vena Sera kicked ass!!! Wicked riffs, awesome drumming and kick ass singing and lyrics!!! Looking forward to their new cd!!!!

I agree Vena Sera was a huge disappointment, the songs just sounded generic, here's hoping the new CD will be better ... get your brother back on bass
