RONNIE JAMES DIO No Longer Part Of 'Brütal Legend' Game

The management for legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio ( HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, DIO) has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that the producers of the upcoming Brütal Legend game have decided to cut Dio's contributions out of the game, and have replaced him with Tim Curry, a movie actor best known for his role in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". No reason was given for the switch. A new trailer for the upcoming Brütal Legend game, featuring the voice and likeness of BLACK SABBATH vocalist Ozzy Osbourne as The Guardian Of Metal, can be viewed below. At EA's E3 press conference, Double Fine studio head and Brütal Legend creator Tim Schafer announced that Osbourne would join a cast that includes metal greats like Rob Halford ( JUDAS PRIEST), Lemmy Kilmister ( MOTÖRHEAD) and Lita Ford. Brütal Legend will be available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and the PlayStation computer entertainment system on October 13 in North America and on October 16 in Europe. WTF is brutal about Tim Curry? Sure he stood up to the likes of McCauley Caulkin and Meatloaf but that does not make him brutal, also I had to sit and watch for what seemed an eternity him chase around an old house a blonde boy wearing nothing but gold underwear while people danced and sang stupidly... Worst movie ever.

What a great list of metal legends, Lemmy, Ozzy, Halford and Dio. Lita Ford is cool and all, but I would prefer Dio to Lita since Dio to me Ozzy, Halford, Dio and Lemmy are metal legends and Lita is while good kind of second tier (in comparison).
I hope the reason had nothing to do with Ozzy's camp. I can understand where he might be touchy about Dio these days since RJD is touring with Iommi and Geezer and there is some animosity between Ozzy and Iommi at the moment (see Ozzy suing Iommi) but I think (if true) it's kind of petty of Ozzy to demand Dio is taken out of the videogame.
All this said, I love the new Heaven and Hell album and I would love to hear a new Sabbath cd with Ozzy someday. I never had a problem enjoying both line ups Sabbath.

someone correct me if im wrong, but used to be, dio was in this and NOT ozzy, but now ozzy is in it and dio is mysteriously getting kicked out....hm....
if ozzy's camp is really behind this, how predictably petty. the thing is dio probably already got paid to record his lines, its just a matter of not being in the same fucking game as him. what kind of diva behavior is that?

Name one Dio cd better than any of these 3 cover to cover, hell lets even throw bark at the moon and ultimate sin to the mix for that matter

Sorry but I'm not a Randy Rhoads worshipper like most metalheads...and I've been trying to tell people that Ozzy does a lot of POP-metal on all his albums (Crazy Train, Flying High Again, etc.) and POP-ularity and album chart positions has no effect on me.

Sales are not directly representational of a band/releases quality.
Black Rain doesn't hold a candle to The Devil You Know.
also compare Ozzy vs Dio as performers and frontmen. Dio has actual charisma, presence, and theatricality. Ozzy stumbles around, reads from teleprompters and throws buckets of water on the crowd.
Dio is infinitely more talented, and his maturity as a person and peformer is irrefutable. Ozzy ruined himself to the point of becoming a puppet, Dio holds all his own cards.

Before we all get wrapped up in speculation (and I'm a big Dio fan), just consider that this could only be a scheduling issue. Dio's certainly got his hands full with H&H and he may have needed to shelve contributing to the game. Due to the nature of game development, they may have only had a short window for vocal contributions, or they needed some rewriting done which Dio couldn't accomodate.

The article says the "CUT" dio's voice work and replaced it. That seems to imply that he already recorded, and they took it out. Which seems pretty suspicious as Dio was basically the first metal voice they announced for the game, and Mob Rules was in the very first trailer for the game.
Unfortunately Ozzy is a bigger draw for the casual metal fan, and has appeal to nu-metal and metalcore mongoloids, probaby much more so than Dio. If it came down to one voice or the other, money probably talks and dio's voice had to walk.
I'd also be curious as to what Jack Black thinks about Dio being cut, knowing that he is a major dio fan.

No offense, but Dio beats Ozzy in pretty much every department... songwriting, vocals, stage presence (Ozzy had that back in the day, but that was a long time ago).
Also, trying to prove someone's the better artist based on how many albums they sell is laughable. I could list some pop artists you probably think are better based on your "sells more = better artist" logic, but that would just be mean.
Sad to say it, but Ozzy's pretty much just a marketing machine anymore. Still has some good songs every now and then, but that's about it. Fuck $haron!!!

'No More Tears' is a terrible album as a whole. A few decent tracks and that's it. 'Bark at the Moon' blows it away, so does 'Ultimate Sin'. To be exact, the only Zakk album worth a damn, is 'No Rest...'
Nothing Ozzy has done with Zakk can compare to 'holy Diver', or even 'Last in Line' for that matter. Both of which are better than 'Bark at the Moon and 'Ultimate Sin'. I'll even add that 'Holy diver' is slightly better than 'Diary of a Madman'.
'The Mob Rules' and 'Heaven and Hell' are classic Metal albums and better than most everything Ozzy did with the band. Sales don't mean shit, unless your in to Pop music and American Top 40 radio. Albums sales never make or qualify one album better than another. If that were the case, then you you would be claiming Britney Spears is better than Black Sabbath. Sales don't mean shit

I think that they'll never release this game... Because of problems with publishers. Activision wants this game back but EA is unbending. They gonna fight for title rights like Ozzy and Tony for Black Sabbath name...
