AEROSMITH To Perform Entire 'Rocks' Album Later In Tour - June 14, 2009
Reuters reports that AEROSMITH has been playing its classic 1975 album "Toys in the Attic" in its entirety on the band's current tour (which kicked off on June 10), with the notable exception of the closing track "You See Me Crying".

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry told Reuters that the song is too difficult for vocalist Steven Tyler to sing right now, but Tyler hopes he will be able to do it after a few more shows. At any rate, the band expects to swap out "Toys in the Attic" in about two weeks, and play all the tracks from its 1976 follow-up "Rocks", Perry said.

Oh come on you pussy. Just perform it and butcher it like you do everything else.

Kidding aside, they were great when I saw 'em in 01!

Nobody wants to see that song performed anyway. Great song--not a rock song, not a song to enjoy live. Concepts have their limits.

Arguably, the best rock and roll record from an American band. In my view, a notch above Toys.

Gee, i was hopeing they'd play Pump. Get a Grip or Just Push Play. NOT! I think Aerosmith finally have realized their best days are far behind them and they might as well play the good stuff. They should consider doing the entire Draw the Line album too.

That is not a very good sign. Although, most of the people in the world right now couldn't do half of the stuff Steven does at his age so I guess its cool. He just needs a little time, like an old school muscle car that has not been started in awhile. It takes a little bit to get goin but once it is warm up look out!!

It's rare you read that kind of reason for not playing a song. Good for them to realize that, and not be like a Vince Neil and try to hash something out. Is is me, or is Geddy Lee one of the few older vocalists that can still hit the notes from '76?

The whole time they were talking about doing "Toys", I was thinking I'd rather they do "Rocks" instead.

They probably dropped this from their set when they realized that Motley Crue ripped the song off, and renamed it Home Sweet Home.

Geddy Lee can no longer hit the notes from the 70's. You need to take into consideration that Rush tune down at least 2 semitones these days. If they would have done this years ago, those songs like 2112 wouldn't sound so bad live these days.

Hey Metal til death
Good point about Wagner and Hunter, two of Bob Ezrin's secret weapons in the studio.

...with PowerBrake on Geddy Lee, no way can he hit the notes from'Temples of Syrinx' - among others these days. That is not to say he sounds bad, just not close to the same as the 70's.

Aerosmith 'ROCKS' in it's entirety is THE excellent right call!!!

These guys are charging A LOT of fucking money for people to see these shows and the big selling point is they are playing Toys in the Attic in it's entirety. When an album has only 10 songs and you can't play one - especially one that they've never played live - that's BULLSHIT.

If Steven Tyler can't sing the song maybe the time to realize that was before you sold all those expensive tickets on the strength of hearing the whole album live. If Steve couldn't pull it off in rehearsals, maybe that's when you should have abandoned the idea of doing the whole album thing.

I'm sorry, but these guys are some straight up douchebags - FIRST you spring it on the fans that they aren't seeing all the members of Aerosmith by announcing Brad isn't doing the shows after you sell the tickets, NOW you aren't playing Toys in the Attic all the way through as promised. What next?

And is Tyler back on smack? I've heard rumors and I find it quite curious that all of the sudden Joe 'mumbles' Perry seems to have become the spokesperson?

Sammy Hagar.

I know everyone likes to bash the guy but I just saw Chickenfoot live and Hagar does "Highway Star" at the end with all the power Gillan used to have in 72. The strength of the guy's voice is quite remarkable for a guy his age - or at any age.

I'd also go on record as saying that while he isn't 100%, Dio is about 90-95% of his glory years. A true vocal powerhouse.

still sounds pretty fuckin' good for 67 years old! Might have lost some of his powerful growl-for lack of a better term- but he can still actually sing!

Also, definitely odd on the Joe Perry spokesman persona going on as of late.

As much as I like a band to be current Aerosmith shouldn't play anything past Draw The Line. I have to agree Rocks is probably one of the greatest rock records of all time although I do prefer Get Your Wings. Rocks is still a way better choice than Toys In The Attic ... I mean who really wants to hear Walk This Way or Sweet Emotion for the millionth time although it would be cool to hear Adams Apple and No More No More live.
