NAPALM DEATH: 'Time Waits For No Slave' Video Released - June 17, 2009
"Time Waits For No Slave", the new video from British grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH, can be viewed below. According to vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway, the clip "encompasses all the features of a dour, sterile, product-driven world and the sheer joy of freeing up your mind and appreciating the simplicity of the world evolving around you rather than flogging yourself to death all the time to get ahead. [It was] done in Norwich (Eastern U.K.) with Tom Blyth, who you might not have heard of. But he was in a really old U.K. hardcore band called GOOBER PATROL. We saw his work and he really seems to understand the art of protest without the cheesiness or cliché."

"Time Waits For No Slave" is the title track of NAPALM DEATH's new album, which entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 95. The CD, which was released in the U.S. on February 10 via Century Media Records, was recorded with producer Russ Russell. Drums were tracked at Parlour Studios in Kettering and guitars, bass and vocals were done at Foel Studios in Wales. The band then returned to Parlour for the mixing sessions.

Greenway recently told Rock Sound magazine about "Time Waits For No Slave", "Each album appears to have got progressively better and better. There was no great master plan, really. We're just a very organic band, very spontaneous, and we just try to write the best songs possible. If there is anything in the back of our minds, then I think it's that we always try to make each album differ without losing the thread of what should be there and I think we've done that with this album."

Despite looking like one of those myspace adverts for specs-savers, this does have its moments. At least it looks a bit different from the other dross masquerading as videos at the moment. So good on them.

....And remember folks, the director could have CGI'd out Shane's bald spot at any point .. but resisted.

When Jesse died I wondered if they could be as effective sonically with only one guitar player. Well, absolutely. With each successive release they top themselves and the pack. A great band that has stood the test of time.

NAPALM DEATH ARE THE FOREFATHERS OF "I GOT NO TALENT FOR SINGING SO I'LL JUST SCREAM" MUSIC

^^^show some damn respect for your elders! ND may not be the best band on the planet - but if it weren't for them (and Carcass) metal wouldn't be what it is today. You should show some gratitude that they still do what they do after 30 years.

Saw these guys at Maryland DeathFest and they still slay. I'll be the first to admit I haven't bought anything by them in years, but I still love watching them live and they still make some good music.

Are you kidding me? I got no respect at all for ND. Never did, never will. Not for them or any other band that can't put some semblance of melody in their song.

I've seen them live and I laughed my ass off. The singer would get all philosophical between the songs announcing how the next song is abut this or that social issue, and then EACH song sounds the same! And as far as making out what the lyrics mean ... well that must be some kind of joke because even 67 year old Bob Dylan sounds more coherent them!

The point I'm trying to say here - learn to sing and put some melody in the music. Mindless growling can hardly be called music. So sorry, no respect from me for Napalm Death or cookie monster bands. They ALL suck.

Just my opinion ...

Just because somebody attacked your favourite little band you get offended and go assuming that I'm a stupid teenager.

Clearly you don't have an intelligent and worthy comeback at my stab at your crappy band so you resort to the cliche "teenager, geek and uneducated metal head" response.

If you can't counter my argument with some valid points then maybe you're the stupid junior here.

In any case I do agree that napalm death = perseverance ... but that doesn't mean they got talent - just perseverance.

Really looks like someone needs to get his ears checked, it does sound like your a teenager to be honest. Not sure how every song sounds the same to you, are you confusing them with your average Power Metal band, or maybe rap and hip hop where every song does sound the same. You should really listen to more then one song before accusing the band of having every song sound the same. Cause it is far from true. Just wait, next he'll say Opeth and Between the Buried and Me all sound the same.

you shouldnt write off an entire genre or group of bands just because its not your cup of tea. the "cookie monster" style of vocals, i feel, is a necessary part of the music. it is the best way to express the anger and agression in the lyrics of that style of metal, which of course goes hand in hand with the agressive riffing. while metal bands with clean vocals are also great, when you look at a genre like death metal, you almost have to justify the screaming when the lyrics are talking about someone getting gored etc. im not saying that screaming is always easy to listen to, just that it fits the music better than clean vocals would. im only saying when you're tuned down 2 steps and playing a hundred miles an hour, growls just fit.

Melody? How bout tone, attitude and a social message. How bout trailblazing a genre of music that so far is standing the test of time. I can listen to Poison, ohhhhh they got melody, but you get none of the above. Alot of extreme metal you take what you can get. If all you can get out of it is laughing your ass off, you are at the wrong concert and the wrong post. There is a twisted sister post you can express yourself on

COMMENT | Funny thing is that Napalm Death CAN and DID write melodic songs

Just check out "Diatribes" or "Words from the Exit Wound":
Only a deaf moron would think all of their songs sound the same and that they've got no talent: Playing like they do requires a lot of talent.
Their songwriting skills are excellent, that's also TALENT right there and the lyrical approach is brilliant....oh look another sign of TALENT.
But what can you expect from a Gnr fan: Not much really.
