POISON Singer Has No Plans To Sue Over TONY AWARDS Incident - June 17, 2009
POISON singer Bret Michaels has told People.com that he has no plans to file a lawsuit over the incident this month's Tony Awards when he got clocked in the head by a descending set piece during his band's performance.

"I want to make very clear to everybody that — first and foremost — I was honored to be asked to be at the Tonys," he said. "I'd never done it before and in all my life it's not something I thought I'd be on. I was really excited. There's no lawsuit. I'm not doing any of that. I'm taking the high road."

Photos of Bret Michaels' nose fracture and busted lip can be viewed below. The POISON singer and reality TV star's publicist Joann Mignano said that Michaels received three stitches in his lip and had a CAT scan on June 8 as a precautionary measure. "His neck was hurt in an accident years ago, so he's being cautious," she told People magazine. "He said he wanted to make sure this was all looked at and taken care of, and I said it was the right thing to do."

Michaels, who is currently on a solo tour, postponed his show scheduled for June 10 in Myrtle Beach to Thursday, August 6. Bret Michaels solo tour dates resumed this past Friday (June 12) in Gadsden Alabama and will continue throughout the summer.

who's he gonna sue, Local One (the stagehand union)? I don't think so... Poison will never *safely* play NY again if he does... LOL

if he had been on his mark when he was supposed to be there, then he wouldn't have run into the set piece. His bass player and guitar player got it right, why didn't he? Oh.. lead singer disease...

Like ahl said, who's he gonna sue? It was an accident. Accidents happen. His case would hold no water if he sued.

The pictures don't even look that bad. A few scabs on his nose, HOSPITAL! And in the pics his eyes look like he just got done crying. I fucking hate him so much.

You guys are merciless, however if you were on the job and got wacked by a machine, fell off a ramp, or electrocuted there is pretty fair chance that if you thought you could be compensated for your injury through a lawsuit you'd be the first people looking for a lawyer.

By all means please don't sue and pay for your own rehab. It will save us the rest of us on our high rates of insurance.

You're right, There's no reason to sue anyone. And it is damn funny, BUT, when motors (or hemp ropes) are moving with live talent on stage, someone is responsible for saftey. If it's in NY, thats a local 1 rigger. Accidents happen, and that guy may not have had a good sight-line to what was going on. I'm sure someone got on a radio and said stop but it may have had to go through a couple of people to get to the guy on the pin-rail. That shit happened in a split second. Thats why pyro shooters are posted up side stage and saftey people also have an abort button. Not sure if this was a rope or motor move, but he was off his mark. I'm sure Brett and his peeps figured out where the communication broke down and decided that it was just a dude doing his gig and let it go. I got no love for local 1, but that was a perfect storm. I'm sure someone spent all night apologizing, and Brett can aford a few stitches. good on ya Brett. Hey local 1, put down the doughnut!
