BRET MICHAELS Talks About TONY AWARDS Incident On 'Today' Show; Video Available

POISON singer Bret Michaels was a guest on this morning's (Monday, June 22) edition of NBC's "Today" show. Watch his appearance on the program below. Due to injuries suffered at the Tony Awards on June 7 when he got clocked in the head by a descending set piece during POISON's performance, Michaels was forced to postpone this past Friday night's (June 19) and Saturday night's (June 20) concerts at the Tachi Palace in Lemoore, California and Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, California, respectively. The new concert dates are Friday, September 18 and Saturday, December 5, respectively. The original tickets will be honored for the new shows. Michaels has told People.com that he has no plans to file a lawsuit over the Tony Awards incident. "I want to make very clear to everybody that — first and foremost — I was honored to be asked to be at the Tonys," he said. "I'd never done it before and in all my life it's not something I thought I'd be on. I was really excited. There's no lawsuit. I'm not doing any of that. I'm taking the high road." Despite this weekend's cancelations, Michaels promises to be ready for the launch of the POISON- DEF LEPPARD- CHEAP TRICK tour, which kicks off tomorrow night, June 23, in Camden, New Jersey. " Bret is excited and will be ready to rock [as soon as possible]," reads a statement on his web site.

Un-fucking-believable. I wanna hate the guy but he's not a TOTAL douchebag.
The footage of him getting knocked on his ass STILL cracks me up after, what, 2-3 weeks.
The best part is how it cuts from Poison rocking out to Bret getting floored to Stockard Channing singing some showtune. Fucking surreal!

no shit - this guy is just milking the shit out of this! let's be honest, bret got bonked by that piece of stage gear because he tried to grab a few extra seconds of camera/audience time. the rest of the band managed to negotiate the stage so it's no one's fault but his own. quite your fucking whining, bret, and move on with your life!

The only thing I respect about Poison is that they've managed, inexplicably, to keep their career going strong well past the expiration date, at least from a touring standpoint.
From all accounts, they put on a fun, high-energy show, so if some middle-aged Jersey bimbos wanna drink cheap beer and re-live their high school '80s heyday every summer for one night, more power to them.

OK so I was gonna pass this one up, but I got to say it one more time. "What a DB!" I think this guy would get more respect if he would just go away. I grew up as a heavy metal fan in the 80's.
These guys were laughed at even then.

Dear Mr. Michaels,
Please stop going on and on about your little mishap at the Tony Awards. It was an accident. Accidents happen. Get over it. To avoid this kind of mishap from happening in the future, please learn to be on time when leaving the stage. Don't take your sweet time leaving the stage, other acts need to go on. Get over it.
