SHINEDOWN Singer Says SOUNDGARDEN Reunion Is Coming - June 23, 2009
According to The Pulse of Radio, SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith spoke with England's Kerrang! magazine at the Download festival two weekends ago about the possibility of a SOUNDGARDEN reunion. Smith said, "There's talk of a reuniting of SOUNDGARDEN in the States soon. I know actually someone specific who told me that, who is actually specifically in their organization. Kinda told me that they're talking about it."

Kerrang!'s interview with Brent Smith can be viewed below.

An inside source told The Pulse of Radio a couple of months ago that a SOUNDGARDEN reunion tour was in the works for the summer of 2010, and that all four members of the band were tentatively interested.

SOUNDGARDEN broke up in 1997 after a five-album, 12-year career. The group was one of the key acts of the Seattle "grunge" scene and one of its biggest exports, along with NIRVANA, PEARL JAM and ALICE IN CHAINS.

Frontman Chris Cornell recorded three albums with AUDIOSLAVE after SOUNDGARDEN's demise and has also embarked on a checkered solo career. Drummer Matt Cameron plays in PEARL JAM, while guitarist Kim Thayil and bass player Ben Shepherd have kept lower profiles.

Cameron, Thayil and Shepherd staged a partial reunion at a recent Tom Morello show in Seattle, playing a handful of SOUNDGARDEN songs with Tad Doyle singing.

I never had the opportunity to see them back in the day, if this happens I will definitely be there! To me , the best band out of Seattle and the closest to Zeppelin (in terms of versatility) I've ever heard.

check out my band if you like, some people have said they hear some soundgarden in our sound

It all suddenly makes sense now...

I work in the touring industry and know people in Soundgardens Management and it looks like they are going to make the reunion happen. When is my interview going to be posted? lol

Think the folks at blabbermouth need to dig deeper for news.

...very happy I got to see them 3 times in the early '90's though.
If they do reunite there needs to be a new album. I can't do it if it's all nostalgia because there's already way too much of that around. I would be very disapointed if Soundgarden became a nostalgia act...but then again it's not about me, the fan.

Best band of the 90's IMO.
Saw them live several times.
Just tracked the amazing 'Louder Than Love' cd the other night.

I hope this is true.

They could hit the road on a double-bill with the revamped Alice in Chains. That would be great.

#1 (Why people are still stupid and can not read)

Brent was asked a specific question regarding the reunion of Soundgarden. He answered the question honestly and simply stated:

"There's talk of a reuniting of SOUNDGARDEN in the States soon. I know actually someone specific who told me that, who is actually specifically in their organization. Kinda told me that they're talking about it."

This isn't anymore breaking news than any recent interview with Chris Cornell. He keeps saying in interviews how it was exciting to see them jam again and how he wished he was there. It is obvious he is wanting to get back together.

So those giving Brent shit for saying that read it a bit more clearly...

#2 THE GOOD NEWS! SOUNDGARDEN MAY REUNITE!

The beauty of this is that these guys broke up on good terms for the most part. They had realized they were out of steam and it was time to move. So hopefully there should not be a bunch of baggage to deal with.

Putting Soundgarden in the same sentence as Limp Bizkit and Creed proves you have a terrible taste in music.

Oh yeah and Soundgarden started in 1984 not just some "90's band" as you would say.

Don't care if he was asked a direct question. He could said something along the lines of "that would be really cool if they did, but since I'm not in the band I have no say. Tell you what though. If they do, I would sure love to open for 'em!" That would be fine. Especially since Audioslave almost died on the vine because people opened their mouths too soon.

The members of Soundgarden were leaving the reunion thing a surprise and upon finding out that this no-talent hack broke this news, they decide not to do it. It's none of this guy's fucking business and it's not his place to say anything about another band's plans. He should shut the fuck up and worry about his own shitty career. I like one or two Shinedown songs, but when they slaughtered Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" that was it for me. They stripped that song of all of its depth and weight. That was one of the worst musical travesties of recent years. Chris Cornell's Scream is probably the most recent musical travesties though......Ah... I see the connection now.

It would be cool to have a Soundgarden reunion though. It's one of the two things from the Seattle/Grunge scene I'll be keeping an eye on. The other is AIC. I'm still really unsure about them releasing a new album. Based on Duvall's performances with them, I don't like him or his voice. He sounds kind of whiney and I think Jerry should've been the only person to handle vocal duties in the band. I'll give it a listen when it comes out, but I'm not expecting anything great, or good, for that matter.

but that didn't stop vince neil/motley crue, so why should it stop anyone else?

seriously, why don't these bands tune down a half-step or 2, or change the key or something. these guys can't hit the notes that they could 20 years ago...it just sounds awful

Wow... where to start...

Sanitarium + MCMAN71 did you even check out the interview? He said he hoped it would happen...

NOT ONCE...

NOT ONCE...

DID HE EVER SAY SOUNDGARDEN IS 100% REUNITING...

He said that he heard from a source that they were TALKING about it and he hoped it happened.

The guy was comfortable and being himself in the interview and was quite respectful to Chris Cornell and the fact that he loved the band.

I think you people are taking this shit WAY too seriously. He said what he said from a fans point of view he was not being a dick but just chatting it up with the interviewer who he seems to know personally.

FUCK PEOPLE! Why does everyone insist on taking everything and making a shit pile out of it... no matter what is said people keep twisting it around to make it look bad. What is it with you people?

Sanitarium:

As far as him being a no talent hack yeah right the dude can sing his ass off and there is no doubting it. He hits the notes and he is in pitch and he actually sings not screams or death grunts.

You may not like his voice but he has pipes. His version of "Simple Man" is great but for all the old Skynyrd fans they hate it because it is not the original and all this b.s. Get over yourself the version he did paid great tribute to the original which was the intent in the first place. The man is a big fan of Skynyrd and he puts his heart and soul into paying tribute and everyone shits on him. Stupid.

Today I have seen some of the most ignorant and uneducated responsed to various topics in a long time. I think overnight the world got dumber.
