WE ARE THE FALLEN: New Video Interview, More Performance Footage Posted Online - June 24, 2009
Reality Rocks/Yahoo! Music blogger Lyndsey Parker conducted an interview with WE ARE THE FALLEN — the new band featuring original EVANESCENCE members Ben Moody (guitar) and John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums) along with "American Idol" powerhouse vocalist Carly Smithson — on Monday, June 22 at S.I.R. Studios in Hollywood, California. Watch the chat and footage of the group's two-song performance at the event below.

In a new interview with Billboard.com, Moody stated about his former band, "There's not really an EVANESCENCE now. It's [singer] Amy Lee playing as EVANESCENCE with a bunch of other guys hired to play our parts. And she's amazing — an incredible front person, a great songwriter, an incredible singer. There's no reason we can't both exist in the world. Musically, we're going in completely different directions; 'The Open Door' (EVANESCENCE's 2006 album) sounds nothing like WE ARE THE FALLEN."

Instead of recording a full-length album, Moody told Billboard.com WE ARE THE FALLEN plans to release new material sporadically via the Internet; the first song, "Bury Me Alive", was just made available via the band's web site, and another track is due out in September before the quintet hits the road and then the group will release two songs every eight weeks.

"I just think we live in an instant gratification world where bands need to hit quicker," Moody explained. "The great thing about 'Bury Me Alive' is it was mastered on a Friday and released on a Monday. We're not tired of listening to it in our cars yet. And as far as fans go, you won't see us disappear for a year and a half or sometimes three years so we can write and record an album. You're gonna get the absolute heart and soul of our creativity, and you're going to get that immediately. That way every song matters, and I think the music will be better that way."

Well, this article explains a lot. Ben Moody obviously needs attention...Too bad he got that fateful text:

http://au.launch.yahoo.com/050927/10/a2rb.html

Guitarist Ben Moody struggled with a cocaine habit capable of "killing a small country" and began drinking alcohol with breakfast. The former Evanescence rocker only rehabilitated himself after a friend sent a pleading text message, begging him not to kill himself. He says, "I was medicating myself constantly. I couldn't wake up and talk to anybody without having two or three screwdrivers (cocktails) in me and I did enough coke to kill a small country! "A friend sent me a text message and it saved my life. She said 'I want you to know that I love you and you're worth having around'. The next day I got help. I saw death and ran."

What a total unhappy, miserable douche bag...Let it go bro. You ain't the rock star you never were....

If they were so concerned about being compared with Evanescence, then why are they covering the songs? Why are they labeled as "the band featuring original Evanescence members"?

They did it to get their name out there. What quicker way to draw attention to yourself then by marketing yourself to the fanbase you originally helped create?

I said it before and I'll say it again because I know John LeCompt reads BM - they need to drop the "original Evanescence members" bullshit and they need to stop covering Evanescence songs. Regardless of their lack of catalog of songs, there are so many other songs out there that Carly could be singing.

Let the music do the talking.

... in a limo to drop off Ben's royalty check just to piss him off? I wouldn't think so, but it sure sounds like Cokehead Moody has a major axe to grind with a certain singer/ex-girlfriend to me. Well, now that they're finished with their tour, back to playing keggers in Fayetteville with your American Idol reject.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEE!!!!!

Wow, so how many news topics are there going to be about this band daily?

Emoescence was a below par gimmick band and just because you got some bland and generic trash american idol popstar #38523804239058239058239058

won't make this band any different.

and how is this even metal ?

Can't believe this band is getting this much coverage. I manage a band out of Knoxville, TN that is female fronted with a NON Evanescence sound to them...check them out Vertigo!

www.myspace.com/listentovertigo

As listed above another great band coming up with female singer Halestorm, doing there own thing! Wish female fronted bands would move past the Amy Lee phase of life.
