KITTIE Signs With E1 MUSIC - June 26, 2009
E1 Music (formerly KOCH Records) has announced the signing of the Canadian all-girl heavy metal band KITTIE to a three-album deal.

KITTIE has released four studio albums during its career which have sold collectively over 1,250,000 copies. The group's new CD, "In The Black", is scheduled for release on September 15. Songtitles set to appear on the effort include "Cut Throat", "Sorrow I Know" and "My Plague".

Commented KITTIE vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander: "We are totally thrilled and honored to be working with Scott Givens and to now be part of the E1 family. We have been hard at work for the past few months perfecting our latest musical offering and are pleased with the final result of 'In The Black'. It is everything that KITTIE is supposed to be: heavy, fast, brash and nasty, yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional. One thing it is not, however, is compromising of the sound and style that we have come to be known for. This shit is HEAVY! Our new label pairing with E1 will actualize the vision that we have held constant over the years for the band."

E1 Music VP of Metal Scott Givens adds, "As a band, KITTIE truly is a one-of-a-kind powerhouse. I know I speak for everyone at E1 Music when I say how excited we are to be working with them and launching 'In The Black' to the masses.”

KITTIE is currently working on fall tour plans and will be shooting two videos during the month of July.

Video footage of KITTIE performing a new song called "My Plague" in London, Ontario, Canada on December 12, 2008 can be viewed below. The footage will be included on the upcoming live DVD, "A Night at the Office: A Tribute to Dave Lander", which is expected to be released later in the year.

David Lander, the father of KITTIE's Morgan Lander and Mercedes Lander (drums), died of a heart attack in August 2008. David Lander, who is said to have been in his early 50s, also managed KITTIE as part of X Of Infamy/K.M.A. Entertainment.

KITTIE last year parted ways with bassist Trish Doan and replaced her with Ivy Vujic of the Canadian band IN THE WAKE. According to a press release, Doan was diagnosed with the eating disorder anorexia-athletica-nervosa, which she developed during the recording of KITTIE's "Funeral for Yesterday", Doan's first release with the group.

"Funeral for Yesterday" — which was released via the band's own record label, X of Infamy — was recorded at Retromedia Studio in Red Bank, New Jersey with producer Jack Ponti, who has previously worked with BON JOVI, SKID ROW, and ALICE COOPER. The band mixed the effort with producer Kevin Shirley (IRON MAIDEN, DREAM THEATER).

They are on of the best Metal bands of this decade. Y'all got someone else better than them, Metallica,Slipknot,Bullet For My Valentine etc.? It doesn't matter cuz whoever you would put up against them in this decade, they still wouldn't compare. Kittie's first 2 albums are masterpieces. Anybody who says different, is not a true Metal fan!

solid, solid band. They are not in my top 10, but you don't have to only listen masterpieces to enjoy music. They make significant progress on each album and they caught on to the clean/dirty vocal thing a long time before it became trendy in the US. I think this move is great for their career.

i'm glad they landed a deal, they've had it rough after the first couple of albums with artemis taking a dump on them and anyone else they had signed ( I do believe Zakk/BLS was signed to them).
anyway, i'm only missing their paper dolls e.p. i like every album they've released. saw them on their last tour, they sounded great live as well. hopefully they can get a solid line up and have found a label that has its sh!t together.

But anywho, I's put it in the poop shoot of each of these chics.

Kittie is/was absolute garbage and a total gimmick band. If they hadn't been girls, they wouldn't even have gotten their initial deal. One of the best of the decade? Jesus christ.
How can this label, who was trying to beef up their metal dept, sign Hatebreed, High on Fire and In Flames, then sign Dope and Kittie. Give me a break.
