GENE SIMMONS On Women, ADAM LAMBERT
- June 29, 2009
|
|
AOL Television's Inside TV blog recently conducted an interview with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons about his "reality TV" show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels". A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. Inside TV: Do you mind if women are interested in you just because of your wealth and status? Simmons: Well, you just have to understand where the minefield is. I'm aware that if I didn't earn a lot of money and have a certain stature then I'm less appealing to women. Period. Shannon [ Tweed, Gene's longtime girlfriend] included. Tell me if this is true: Two guys are talking, two girls are talking. The guy says to his friend, "I've got a blind date for you." The friend replies, "What does she look like?" Two girls are talking: "I've got a blind date for you." "Really? What does he do?" A guy pulls up in a Volkswagen from the 1960s and says, "Let's go on a date and eat beans and franks." Next day, same guy pulls up in a Rolls Royce and says, "I'm taking you to Paris" — which one do you want? But men don't care if you have a job, a dime or a car. We just don't care as long as you look good. Inside TV: Adam Lambert's performance with KISS on "American Idol" was amazing. But I'm a little bummed you've been talking smack about him... Simmons: I don't think I've been talking smack at all. In fact, if anything, I've been soft-peddling. He's enormously talented, best talent "American Idol" has had, but I think he killed his career because now the conversation is not about his talent but about his sexual preference. He's done. You're forcing people to deal with issues they may not be interested in. Life is unfair, and the masses don't all live in L.A. They live in Wisconsin and Nebraska, and you're on crack if you think the same rules apply there. My advice is still the same, shut the fuck up, just sing and let people say whatever they want. But I do wish him the best because he's got all the talent in the world. If only the world was not homophobic, but it is. I would be the first one to vote for equal rights for gay women and men, and get the church and the state to stop telling everybody how to lead their lives, but do I think he's killed his career? Oh, in an instant. I hope I'm completely wrong. I hope he becomes the next BEATLES and proves me wrong. Read the entire interview from Inside TV.

Gene is dead-on about Lambert. Wisconsin is another world away from California. In a good way, sometimes, though. Gene's just jealous Lambert can sing 10x better than he can.

People can bash Gene all they want and call him a greedy bastard and what not. But the fact is he is one of the smartest people in the entertainment business. Once again, he's spot on. And even though he has a certain in your face image that can sometimes be a bit obnoxious, I'm quite sure he is a sweet dude with healthy values.

I love Adam Lambert. He's very talented person that I've ever met last ten years. But, I agree with Simmons too. Adam actually could shut up about everything outside his music, wait till' it (his music) big. So people could careless beside the music. Focus, focus... And, even he's not come out, I (we) already know that he's a gay. I'll buy Adam albums, but I'll worry about his career too

It's not like the brother was standing on the friggin mountaintop proclaiming his homosexuality. What Gene seems to forget is that he is in a very small group of entertainers that has a certain amount of control when it comes to interviews. The truth is that Lamberthat was a NOBODY 7 months ago. He has yet to release any material and yet he's already got the RS cover? Rolling Stone dictated the terms. You come out or no cover.
Besides Gene: who are you to say whether or not he's killed his career? Dating Diana Ross in '82 didn't kill yours, and that tabboo was no where near to being broken back then.

you couldn't be any more right. the guy only answered a question he was asked a billion times, and that was that. not only that - proclaiming one's sexual preference is far better than someone bragging about how many women he has 'banged'. fuck gene simmons.

He wasn't negative in any way, he's just offering his perspective of show business AFTER BEING FUCKING WORLD FAMOUS SINCE ABOUT 1973!!??
Most of you fucking dickheads that bash him every time you see his name posted, regardless of the article weren't even BORN when Gene first got famous.
SHUT THE FUCK UP. You know nothing. You do NOTHING.
Gene Simmons made more money while I was typing this than you'll make working at Wendy's ALL YEAR.

It really doesnt matter what anyone thinks about lambert, he's gay, GET OVER IT.
And no, they were never any days when gays were in the closet. The problem is that society changed and became more tolerant of gays, so it was no problem for the ones in the closet to come out to everyone. Next coming from you will be that if we remember when black people had their own restroom. Dumbass

--Remember when they just kept it in "the closet"? I miss those days.
Yes, those were the good old days. Back when gay people had to hide their lifestyles in shame so as to not make judgemental homophobes like you uncomfortable. Those were good times.
What would be even better times is if assholes would hide their ignorance in shame so as to not offend people with at least half a brain and an ounce of tolerance!

Who cares if hes gay or not, that should'nt have a direct effect on his singing/talent. Unless he starts singin about his gay lover...
Regardless if Gene Simmons makes more money then me, you or the fucking president also means nothing. Money is hollow. Being famous in this day and age is also close to nothing. In the end we all die and leave with nothing.....
Im not homophobic, I could care less if anyone wants to be gay, or be proud of it. I do not see the point of having Gay Pride Parades and all other nonsense similar to that. Im proud of being single, theres no fucking parade for that.... Get over it, who cares. Adam Lambert and Gene Simmons suck anyways...

Huge Kiss fan here, but Simmons is wrong on this one. Adam couldn't do an interview without someone asking him about his sexual orientation. It is better he just admits to it now, otherwise he would be asked it for years to come. Now that it is out in the open, he doesn't have to worry about being asked it a million times. I really don't think Adam would have said anything f it wasn't for the media hounding him every single time about the situation.

Funny how Simmons wants Lambert to shut up about his sexual life when all he does everytime he opens his mouth is tell his stories about how many women he fucked over the years. To Lambert : Shut up ! To Simmons : Shut the fuck up too, you're an asshole and you know it !!!

Best quote. This is why men rule. Women out there need to read that quote.

It's always entertaining to hear Gene's views on marriage, sexuality, and relationships. He says in the interview that he is of "average" looks - not quite, Gene. Actually, you're pretty friggin' hideous. But you hit the nail on the head - you scored a Playmate because of your bank balance.
As for Lambert, who the hell cares about his sexual orientation? Most of the intelligent world is way past homophobia, so Gene is just showing his own ignorance by saying that Lambert's orientation might interfere with his career.

Adam had no choice but to talk about his sexuality...the public just needed to know.......he's gay....who the fk cares.....and as far as Gene goes he's one smart dude he's always known what he wants and is a man of his word but on another note does anyone recall if alice and chains opened for kiss in massachusetts in the 90's and where abouts??
